I wanted to give all of you an update on student schedules and our Open House. We will be sharing our students' schedules on the Parent Portal and Student Portal on Infinite Campus the morning of August 18th. Our Open House is that evening- August 18th from 4pm to 7pm. Our freshmen can come and meet their teachers and walk their schedule from 4pm to 5:30pm. Our sophomores can come meet their teachers and walk their schedule from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Please access your schedule through the Parent Portal or Student Portal on your phone (and take a screen shot in case you have poor cell service on campus). If you are not able to access your schedule through either the Parent Portal or Student Portal, we will have a printed copy for you just in case.

During the July 14th regular scheduled meeting, the JC Board of Education approved revisions to Policy Code 4304: Code of Student Conduct.
There was special attention to Section F. 36, which provides governance for the "Possession, Display, Use, Sale or Distribution of Vapes".
Revisions define vapes and expresses that there will be a 10-day suspension for any student in violation of the code.
We strongly encourage parents to speak with your child(ren) regarding the details of the policy and the consequences moving forward.
Please know that the Johnston County Board of Education strives to mitigate health and safety concerns related to harmful substances such as tobacco products and/or vapes. The revised verbiage and the associated penalties have been set to achieve this goal.

I wanted to send another quick reminder that we have our Freshmen Orientation tomorrow (Tuesday, August 4th) from 9am to 11am. Our Sophomore Orientation is on Thursday, August 6th from 9am to 11am. You can start arriving at 8:30am. Please park in our parking lot in front of the building (not in the carpool lane). This is not mandatory, but we do highly encourage students attend; and we do ask that if a student is attending that an adult attends with them so you have the same information. Our PTSO has scheduled Naha Brews and Pancakii Express for you to order on your way out (or you can enjoy in our cafeteria after the tours).
Football players will have an orientation for them and their parents this Friday, August 7th from 11am to 12:30pm (since you are having practice during our other orientations).
If your student is one of our Student Ambassadors that were trained as tour guides last week and they are helping tomorrow and/or Thursday, please have them arrive by 8:30am ( I will be meeting with them in the cafeteria before the Orientations).
And finally, if your student is playing a fall sport (they have made one of our fall sports teams), there is a mandatory Fall Sports Parent Meeting this Wednesday, August 5th at 6pm in our auditorium.

Due to the rain last night we have had to make a few changes to the locations of tryouts/workouts this morning.

Good evening Wilson's Mills High School Family! This is Chad Jewett, principal of Wilson's Mills High School with some important information.
Tryouts for our fall sports teams are starting this week. Here are the tryout dates and times: Football tryouts are this Wednesday through Friday from 8am to 11am at WMHS; Cheerleading tryouts are this Wednesday through Friday from 9am to 11am in the main gym at WMHS; Men's Soccer tryouts are this Wednesday through Friday from 9am to 11am at the soccer field at WMHS; Women's Tennis tryouts will start next Monday through Wednesday from 9am to 11am at the tennis courts at WMHS; Women's Volleyball tryouts are next Monday through Wednesday from 9am to 11am in the main gym at WMHS; and Cross Country is from 6:30am to 8:00 on July 29th at WMHS track, July 30th at Smithfield Park by the SRAC, and July 3st at WMHS track.
We finally have our final certificate of occupancy, so we are able to help you in our office. Our office will be open from 8am to 4pm Monday through Thursday this week and next week. You can also call us if you need assistance at 919-912-2430.
Our Ribbon Cutting Ceremony is this Sunday, August 2nd at 3pm. We will cut the ribbon in the front of the building, followed by a ceremony in the auditorium and library, and tours of our facility.

This is where students and parents will get very detailed information about our school, expectations, and programs. We will also be giving tours. This is not mandatory, but it is a great way to get familiar with our school prior to Open House or the 1st day of school. If you child is at tryouts, then they do not need to attend the orientation.
Student schedules will be posted on the Parent Portal and Student Portal one day next week for you to see. Our guidance counselors and data manager have done an amazing job getting these ready.
I have had a few questions about supply lists. Teachers will list the supplies the students need for their class on their syllabus that you will receive at Open House on August 18th.
Finally, our Open House will be on Tuesday, August 18th from 4pm to 7pm. This is where students and parents will be able to meet their teachers and visit their classrooms. You can view your schedule on Infinite Campus prior to attending, but we will also have a printed copy if you need it when you arrive.
There’s still time to get to the Summer Information Fair!
Until 6 PM today, families can stop by Corinth Holders High, Cleveland High, or Smithfield-Selma High to receive support regarding enrollment applications, transportation questions, student resources, and more.
