During the July 14th regular scheduled meeting, the JC Board of Education approved revisions to Policy Code 4304: Code of Student Conduct.
There was special attention to Section F. 36, which provides governance for the "Possession, Display, Use, Sale or Distribution of Vapes".
Revisions define vapes and expresses that there will be a 10-day suspension for any student in violation of the code.
We strongly encourage parents to speak with your child(ren) regarding the details of the policy and the consequences moving forward.
Please know that the Johnston County Board of Education strives to mitigate health and safety concerns related to harmful substances such as tobacco products and/or vapes. The revised verbiage and the associated penalties have been set to achieve this goal.

I would like to thank all of our students and staff for an amazing first day of school. Today exceeded my expectations for the first day of a new school. Parents, thank you so much for watching our carpool video- carpool went very smooth at drop off and pick-up. Just a couple of reminders, please space out and use all three lanes; and also when you lane is allowed to go (for drop off and pick-up), please pull all the way up to where Mrs. Weaver is located by the end of our carpool lane. This way we can unload and load as many cars at one time.
We have a lot of home athletic events this week:
Home soccer game today at 6:30pm vs. South Johnston; Home tomorrow vs. Rosewood at 6:30pm; Home on Thursday at 6:30pm vs. CHHS
Volleyball plays at home games on Wednesday against North Johnston and Thursday against Princeton at 5pm
Tennis at Home on Thursday at 3:30pm
Football at home this Thursday against Western Harnett at 6:30pm
Please come out and support our student athletes!

If you have not done so already, please visit our Wilson's Mills High School website to access the required Beginning of the Year documents that must be completed by the parents/guardians of our students. On our homepage, there are scrolling banners at the top, the banner with the Beginning of the Year Documents will say click "here" to access the documents electronically. These must be completed as soon as possible (students are not able to use Chromebooks until these are completed).
Please visit our Wilson's Mills High School Facebook page- I have posted a video explaining our carpool procedures and which entrance to use for our carpool. This will help you and us make sure Monday runs as smoothly as possible.
We will unload carpool and buses starting at 6:35am. Our tardy bell will ring at 7:15am. Students will go directly to their homeroom starting at 7:00am (their homeroom is listed on their schedules they received at Open House or online- if they don't remember, we will have lists posted by the cafeteria to help them).
Dismissal will start at 2:15pm. Again, please watch our carpool video that posted to our Facebook page to know what to expect.

I wanted to let you know that student schedules are posted in Infinite Campus for our students. You can access them through the Parent Portal and the Student Portal. Please use your phone or take a screenshot of your schedule so you can follow your schedule and meet your teachers this afternoon. If you are not able to access your schedule, we will have printed copies here just in case. Our Freshmen Open House is this afternoon from 4pm to 5:30pm; and our Sophomore Open House is from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We will have bus passes for students riding the bus will be in your advisory teacher's classroom.
At our Open House this afternoon we will also have tables set up for our Parent Involvement Organizations (Booster Clubs, PTSO) and a Map with locations of our classrooms and club sponsors.
Please park in our front parking lot and enter at the front entrance; we will have our weapon's detection system on for everyone to pass through upon entering.
Also, I wanted to let you know that we have some upcoming home games this week. Our Volleyball team is playing at home tomorrow and Thursday at 5pm. Tennis is at home this Thursday at 5pm. And our first home Football game is this Thursday at 6:30pm. Please come out and cheer on our Green Wave Athletes!
