Good evening, This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn with a couple of updates . Your student should have come home with an envelope with School Store information today. This is explaining how the program works. Families, please read over the information describing how you can participate. Your students will earn a participation prize when they return the filled-out envelope to school. We are asking you to complete option 3 on your information sheet (shop your normal retailers including Walmart, Old Navy, or Hobby Lobby to name a few). By shopping at your normal stores, our PTA receives a small portion of the total. This will last an entire calendar year and students have the ability to earn prizes for participation until the end of the school year. We want to stress that we are not asking for donations at this time. We realize that times are tough, so this may be a small way to help the school with your everyday shopping. Also, please make note that for the past couple of weeks, our carpool has been ending by 4:20 pm. Please make sure that you are in line when it begins at 3:45 and that you have picked up your child by 4:20 pm. Our office closes at 4:45 and we have several students that are on campus well after our dismissal has ended. Thank you and have a good evening.

So proud of our Patriot singers as they represented MCES at this year's Showcase of Stars! The performance was fantastic. Our amazing Mrs. Rutt was also recognized as she has been a part of EVERY Showcase of Stars since the beginning. What a wonderful night!

Good evening Patriot Families, This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn with updates for the week. Today was busy, but fun! What a wonderful turnout by parents and community members sharing their careers and cultures with our students. Thank you for your time out of your work schedule to inspire our students for the future. Today, we also saw lots of fun book characters traveling around the building as we ended Read Across America Week. Don't forget to go ahead and mark your calendars for our Book Fair week March 21-27 and our Family Book Fair and Curriculum Night from 6:00 - 7:30 pm. You will be able to shop our book fair, as well as visit classrooms, and get ideas on how to support your child's learning at home and finish the year strong! For school hours during Book Fair Week, we are looking for volunteers to help, so head on over to our facebook page, PTA page or the flyer sent home and sign up. Last announcement is don't forget to purchase your yearbook! As time passes, the cost increases, so go ahead and grab yours now. There are links on our website and social media pages. Thank you for all that you do and have a good evening.

Good afternoon. Due to the weather conditions, we will not be walking over this afternoon for middle school walkers. Please either come check students out or get in regular carpool. If any questions, please call the school. Thank you!

Good Afternoon Parents, Today was amazing. Every single one of our classrooms had a guest reader for Read Across America Day, including the Football team and Cheerleaders from West Johnston! Next week is going to be a busy and exciting week as well. Monday is Talent Monday where students will share in a writing prompt what talent they have. Tuesday is a teacher workday and there will be no school for students. Wednesday is wacky Wednesday and so students are encouraged to dress wacky. Thursday is cat in the hat day so students can wear their favorite hat to school. We will end the week with Book Character Day on Friday where students can dress up as their favorite book character. We want to help ignite a love of reading into each and every one of our students. Next week is also National School Breakfast Week so encourage your children to eat breakfast and lunch and see who our special guests are in the cafeteria! Thank you for all that you do and have a good evening.

Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role. We honor the 53 amazing members of the JCPS family for their work that clearly does not go unnoticed! Thank you!✨ Stay tuned for an event recap video... #ILeadWithMyHeart

Good evening Patriot families, This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn. Next week, February 12-16th is Love the Bus week. This is a great opportunity to show your appreciation for our bus drivers who show up to get our students to and from school everyday. Take a few extra minutes this week to offer words of encouragement, thank you's, their favorite treats or snacks, cards, etc. for all they do. Also, just a friendly reminder that even though Valentine's Day is on Wednesday the 14th, we ask that you do not send your students flowers or balloons since they tend to become distractions in the classroom. Flowers and balloons are also not allowed on the school bus. Thank you for all that you do and have a good evening.

Good evening Patriot Families, This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn, calling with an update. Our someone special dance is just one week away. Please note that this event is a transofrmation of our Daddy/Daughter dance as we recognize many families want to attend this event, but felt it only applied to Dads and Daughters . This event is for every student and their special grown-up to attend, whomever they may be. This is not an event meant for students to invite other students. The first night is Thursday, February 1st with students who have last names beginning with the letters A-L. The second night is Friday, February 2nd with students who have last names beginning with the letters M -Z. The time for both nights is 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Pre-registration is open until Tuesday, January 30th at 6:00 p.m. These tickets are $5.00 per person (every attendee must have a ticket) and includes entry and one photo. Door admission is $7 per person and this is a cash only event. Please see the McGee's facebook page or PTA page for more information. There was also a flyer sent home last week. We will see the students back on Monday. Enjoy your weekend!

Good evening Patriot Families, This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn with this week's updates. Today the drawing was held for the Spring VIP Carpool winners. Thank you all for participating. The winners were notified through a phone call as well as listed on our School and PTA facebook page. If you are a winner, please note the following: * This begins Monday, 1/22. Please have your tag visible and you will pull into the drop-off/pick up lane in the back bus parking lot. Please wait for staff directions, especially on the first day and remember that there are always children loading and unloading on buses and vans so please do not pull out of the loop and go around. Although this is a great thing, we have to keep the safety of our students in mind first. Q2 Principal Book Club logs are due Monday as well. Several of you have been sharing them digitally and some of your students have been returning the papers. Either way is fine but they must be turned in by Monday. A flyer was sent home by our PTA this week about our Someone Special Dance. The cut-off for Pre registration is January 30th at 6:00 p.m. The dates are Thursday, February 1st for last names that begin with A-L and Friday, February 2nd for last names that begin with M-Z. The time is from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. each night. For any further questions about this event, please ask our PTA. As a reminder, January 25th and 26th are teacher workdays next week and students do not attend. Last, but not least, JCPS made an adjustment to our student calendar and March 5th is now an optional workday for staff due to this being an election day. Students will not attend this day. Thank you all for your continued support for our school and have a good evening.
