Important information about our lost and found:

Good evening Patriot Families,
This is Mrs. Dunn with a few updates. First off, thank you all so much for your kindness and flexibility this week with all of the schedule changes around the weather. We all survived and made it safely through. Secondly, just a reminder that there is no school on Monday, 1/15/24, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Have a wonderful weekend and we will see you on Tuesday. Thank you for all that you do to support our school and community.

Good evening Patriot Families,
This is your prinicpal with some information regarding tomorrow. I apologize it is late, but I wanted to clarify a few things for tomrorow. All students and staff should report to schools and campuses on a two-hour delay tomorrow, Wednesday, January 10, 2024. This means our school day at MCES will begin at 10:30, with the tardy bell ringing at 10:55 am.
School nutrition will serve breakfast upon student’s arrival. Early morning care will open two hours later than the normal start time. For MCES students, that means Early morning care will be available starting at 8:30 am.
There are many roads that have standing water and debris that could be unsafe for travel in the early morning hours. This delay affords safety officials the opportunity to access road conditions and receive further guidance from local emergency officials. We encourage all travelers, especially our teen drivers, to travel with caution.
School nutrition will serve breakfast upon student’s arrival. Students will also receive lunch while at school as well.
I hope you all have stayed safe tonight through the winds, rain and storm. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Under the guidance of local emergency officials and out of an abundance of caution, JCPS will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Everyone is encouraged to drive with caution when traveling.

📣One more additional announcement!
Parents of middle school sibling walkers: please plan on coming in the office by 12:15 to sign out your child or getting in carpool line due to the early release being based on possible high winds and rain. We will not be walking the students over to the middle school. Thank you for your understanding!

Good evening Patriot families,
Our district will dismiss 3 hours early tomorrow, Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at 12:45. All afterschool and evening activities will be canceled. Therefore, there will be no afterschool care. If your child is a car rider, the names will begin being called at 12:45. Please arrange to pick up your child as close to that time as possible so that staff can safely leave campus before any possible inclement weather begins. Also, breakfast and lunch will be provided but the menu will be updated for the sandwiches scheduled for Wednesday to now be tomorrow's lunch. Thank you.

Good evening Patriot families,
This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn. This week, there was a flyer sent home regarding our awesome VIP carpool opportunity. If you are looking for a way to skip carpool and save time, this is your chance. You can buy entires for our drawing between now and January 18th and be selected as a lucky winner! The drawing will be held on January 19th and VIP carpool will begin on January 22nd and last through the remainder of the school year. VIP Carpool riders are dropped off and picked up in the back bus lot. There will be 8 lucky winners for the morning and 8 lucky winners for the afternoon, so make sure you split your entires between the two to increase your chances of winning! Good luck and may the odds be ever in your favor.

As we all get ready for break, there are some students from Mcgees Crossroads Elementary who will have something a little extra being delivered before Christmas. Be on the lookout for Shout-outs and Character Ed postcards, and have a great winter break!

Christmas Break is just a couple of days away!🎄🎁
For students following the traditional school calendar, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 is an early release day. Then students will be out of school from Thursday, December 21, 2023 - Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 2, 2024.

Good evening Patriot Families,
This is your Principal, Lyndsey Dunn, with some reminders. On Monday, students and staff will wear red, white and blue because Winter Break is Patriotic! Show your MCES spirit wear or colors. On Tuesday, it is Grinch day, so feel free to wear something Grinch themed or something green. On Wednesday, it 'Twas the Night before Winter Break, so wear your pajamas! Wednesday is also an eary release day, so we will begin dismissal at 1:45. If you would like to pick up your child earlier than that, please come by 1:15 because it is a busy, busy day. Students will return from Winter Break on Wednesday, January 3rd. Over break is a great time to continue reading your 25 books to meet the Principal Book Club goal for Quarter 2. Those logs are due by January 22nd. You can turn them in digitally or via email. A paper copy will also be going home this week. I want to wish all of our Patriot Families a wonderful and safe break. We hope you are able to spend time with family and bring in the New year! We will see you on January 3rd.

Join us tomorrow morning for Breakfast with Santa! We invite everyone to come have pancakes and take their picture with Santa!
Just a reminder, cash only will be accepted for those who did not pre-register, and if you did pre-register but did not receive your armband, they will be at the front door for you in the morning.
We look forward to seeing everyone there!

Good evening Patriots,
This is Mrs. Dunn sharing a message from Mrs. Rutt. You are cordially invited to the Annual MCES Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Concert on December 12th at 6:30 in the cafeteria. Come and hear our beautiful chorus! You won't be dissapointed.
In other news, just a few housekeeping items. If you have a student who is a middle school sibling walker, please make sure that they are on the sidewalk in front of McGee's Middle and not blocking the path or the road. Since there are so many students, the activity of the older siblings makes it hard for our students to get through to where they need.
Don't forget Breakfast with Santa is this Saturday, 12/9/23, beginning at 9:00. Everyone must enter through the front parking lot and then the pancakes will be waiting for you in the cafeteria as well as optional Pictures with Santa will be available in the music room.
We are loving the 12 days of winter fun. Thank you for participating! Have a good evening.

Good morning,
Bus 188 is running approximately 1 hour behind this morning.
Thank you.

Good evening Patriot families,
This is Mrs. Dunn bringing you updates for the week. On Tuesday, December 5th, we kick off our "12 Days of Winter" fun. We encourage you to shine bright like Christmas Lights! - Wear your favorite color, glittery, or shiny clothing. Wednesday is Walking in A Winter Wonderland - Wear your favorite socks for all to see! Thursday is Don We Now Our Plaid Apparel - Channel your inner holiday lumberjack and wear plaid! and Friday finishes the week with Winter Sports Day - Show your love for sports by wearing your favorite jersey or uniform.
In other news, tomorrow night, our 4th grade team is having a curriculum night about EcoSystems from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. This is specifically for the families and students of our 4th grade students. When you arrive, come in through the front of the building and head on down to your homeroom classrooms. You will be able to visit other classrooms and then you can ask your teacher if you are allowed to take your project home.
Don't forget that our Pre-registration for Breakfast with Santa ends Wednesday so that PTA has time to send home the wristbands before the event.
Our Apex ReMix Event ended with an awesome glow party in the gym and as soon as I have final totals, I will share. Any other additional prizes will be given out this week.
December goes by fast but it is so much fun. We look forward to seeing the students participating. Have a good evening.

November's Character Trait of the Month postcards and Enhancement Shout-outs are in the mail. Who will receive one this time?! Be on the lookout!

Good evening Patriots,
The time has finally come! Tomorrow, Friday, December 1st is our Apex Remix Event. This will occur during your child's enhancement time in the gym. You are welcome to come and attend if you would like. Check out how many moves your child can do and what all of the hype has been about! Just sign in at the front office and receive a visitor's sticker.
In other news - if your child is in Mrs. Horne, Mr. Lawson or Mrs. White's 5th grade class, their cap and gown pictures will be taken tomorrow. Those are the only pictures being taken tomorrow and they will be in the morning so that it does not interfere with the Apex Remix Event.
Also, just another friendly reminder to Save the Date for our fun community events in December! Breakfast with Santa is on December 9th from 9 - 11 am and Our Christmas Chorus performance and Tree lighting event is on December 12th beginning at 6:30 p.m. At this event, you will also receive an update from our PTA.
Thank you all for your support. We couldn't do what we do without you. Have a good evening.

Be in the lookout!
We have our visiting Apex member- Wavy wally- joining us at carpool for the rest of the week!

Good evening families of third graders,
This is your principal, Mrs. Dunn, calling with an important message. Originally, we had a parent night scheduled for this Thursday, November 30th. Due to a change of plans and a desire to do something interactive as well as informative, we have decided to cancel this Thursday night and wait for a date in January. Our third grade team of teachers is very excited about an idea they came up with and think that you would better benefit from the information after break. Thank you for your understanding! Have a good night.

Good evening Patiot families!
I hope you all have had a wonderful time with family during this break. This is Mrs. Dunn calling to remind you of what’s happening at school this week. We have the Apex team at school teaching the students leadership lessons like being proactive to get things done, finding healthy ways to resolve conflict and work it out, and pausing for a reality check to stay true to who they are. The Apex team is putting on a huge event on December 1 st to celebrate everything they learn and the money we raise!
Students are aiming to get pledges from 10 sponsors to help raise money for the school, and they are earning thank you gifts for their pledges. To donate, please check out your student’s “Apex VIP Badge” that was sent home last week. All instructions are inside. Just go to www.myapexevent.com and use your student’s special “access code” printed on their VIP Badge to log in and enter your pledges. If you cannot find your code, just email info@apexleadershipco.com. This helps the school and helps us keep track of pledges. Remember to login and select your student’s shirt size online because every student will receive a free shirt on event day!
For other fun events, you will also see information coming along about out PTA Holiday Shop and our Breakfast with Santa event! Save the date for December 9th! If you don't already, please follow our schools' facebook page, because we update it constantly.
As we welcome you all back tomorrow, please remember a few things about carpool. Everyone is supposed to enter from Highway 210. You cannot enter from Highway 50 and cut in line. Unfortunately, there are not always staff members available to monitor this during the high traffic times due to instruction, so please follow the rules. It helps carpool run smoother as well as run faster. In all situations, remember there are little eyes and ears watching and every adult is a role model with your words and actions.
Get some rest tonight and we look forward to seeing your smiling faces tomorrow!

In observance of the Thanksgiving holiday, all JCPS campuses will be closed Wednesday, Nov. 22 - Friday, Nov. 24. 🦃
