⚓ News from the Pirate Ship ⚓

Here are a few important updates as we head into a new week:

📌 Homecoming Week – This week is Homecoming at CHHS! We’ll celebrate with spirit days, a parade, a pep rally, and of course, Friday night’s big game. We encourage all students to join in the spirit and show their Pirate pride throughout the week.

On Friday, we kindly ask that families limit pick-ups between 12:00–2:00 PM to emergencies only.

12:00–12:45 PM: No student pick-up will be available, as the front drive will be closed for the parade.

12:00–2:00 PM: Student pick-up will be very limited. Students will be participating in the parade and pep rally and will not be in class.

Any pick-ups during the pep rally will require students to be called over the loudspeaker, which is disruptive to the event.

📌 Attendance Reminder – Students who check out early must come to the attendance office before leaving. Parents sending in notes should clearly include your student’s first and last name. Educational leave forms can be found on our school website.

📌 Electronic Use Policy – As always, phones and personal devices must remain put away from bell to bell, except during lunch. Cell phones should never be out in the hallways.

You can find the link to our online newsletter in your email inbox, on our school website, and on social media: https://secure.smore.com/n/b1v0g.

As always, thank you for your continued support. Let’s make it a great week, Pirates!

⚓ Senior Success Night – Class of 2026! ⚓

Last night we welcomed parents and students for our Senior Success Night— 🎓 Families gained valuable insight on college admissions, scholarships, financial aid, and post-graduation pathways.

We are grateful to retired JCPS counselor Rodney Allred for sharing his expertise, to our Johnston Community College partners for highlighting opportunities like the Commissioner’s Promise and BOOST programs, and to our military recruiters for supporting students exploring service after high school.

Thank you to our amazing CHHS Student Services team for organizing and guiding our seniors through every step of the journey.

We are #anchoredtogether to ensure every Pirate succeeds! 💜💛🏴‍☠️

JCPS continues to shine! 🌟

We are excited to announce that Johnston County Public Schools has continued its journey to becoming one of the best districts in the state, according to 2024-2025 data recently released by NCDPI.

A few of the district highlights included a significant increase in student proficiency scores and school performance grades, with 93% of our schools having a school letter grade of A, B, or C! 75% of our schools met or exceeded growth, which is well above the state average.

Amazingly, 15 of our schools rank in the top 20% statewide, with seven schools in the top 10% for growth! Graduation rates for JCPS schools continue to rise, with JCPS reaching 92.5%, which is significantly higher than the state average of 87.7%

A huge thank you to our incredible educators, hardworking students, and supportive families for helping drive this success forward! 📈

Join us to talk about the Career and College Promise (CCP) program. CCP is a dual enrollment program that allows eligible high school students in North Carolina the opportunity to pursue college courses (tuition-free) while in high school. The Career and College Promise program accelerates completion of college certificates, diplomas, and associate degrees that lead to college transfer or provide entry-level job skills.
