Congratulations to Mr. James Massey, the 2026 CHHS Leading with the Heart recipient. A much beloved figure in the school hallways, Mr. Massey exemplifies what it means to "lead from the heart". He has a singular gift of making everyone, students and teachers alike, feel seen and appreciated. An auto mechanics teacher for many years, the genuinely caring relationships Mr. Massey shares with his students are evident as soon as one walks in his garage and classroom...and the respect the students have for "Massey" is apparent. A gifted storyteller, he has countless tales about the students whose lives he has touched. Again, congratulations for this well deserved honor!

"Leading with the Heart" is an annual award in JCPS, recognizing staff who show exceptional leadership, compassion, and dedication, inspired by Duke basketball Coach Mike Krzyzewski's book of the same name. It's a district-wide initiative celebrating educators and staff who exemplify strong work ethic, mentorship, and a caring approach, with nominations coming from peers for their steadfast commitment.

We are excited to share that for the 2024-2025 academic year, two seniors and two 2025 graduates are candidates for the College Board Advanced Placement (AP) Capstone Diploma™, and three seniors and two 2025 graduates are candidates for the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™.

The College Board AP Capstone is a two-year program based on two AP courses: AP Seminar and AP Research. The program helps students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and research and presentation skills that are essential to academic and career success.

Instead of learning subject-specific content, these courses develop students’ skills in research, analysis, evidence-based arguments, collaboration, writing, and presenting. Students who complete the two-year program can earn one of two different AP Capstone awards, the AP Capstone Diploma™ or the AP Seminar and Research Certificate™, which are valued by colleges across the United States and around the world.

JCPS will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

All students and staff should report to schools and campuses on a two-hour delay.

We have been advised that the potential of black ice is possible tonight through Tuesday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions. To allow for better road visibility for our bus drivers, students, and staff drivers, we will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow. We encourage all travelers, especially our student drivers, to travel with caution.

School nutrition will serve breakfast upon students’ arrival. Early morning care will open two hours later than the normal start time.

Thank you for your understanding as we work with local safety and emergency officials to ensure that we are all safe during these inclement weather events.
