Good afternoon Green Waves Family! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Wilson's Mills High School, with an important announcement.
I wanted to let you know that the fire alarm went off at 11:57am and we evacuated the building. It was a malfunction, but we evacuated out of an abundance of caution to wait for the Wilson's Mills Fire Department to clear the building and acknowledge the alarm. Our staff and students did a great job, and we are back on schedule. I wanted to make sure you were all aware and informed.
Have a great rest of your day!

We wanted to inform our parents and students that bus 689 is running 2-hours behind. Any students that have not been brought to school already and need to ride the bus to school, need to be at the bus stop 2-hours later from their normal pick-up time this morning. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

Good evening Green Waves Family! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Wilson's Mills High School, with some important information.
I wanted to remind all of you that students do not have school this Friday, September 25th. This is county workday for teachers.
I wanted to make let all of our families know that latest time that parents can check students out of school is 1:45pm. Checking out students later than that makes it very difficult with transitions, afternoon announcements, and getting ready for dismissal. I greatly appreciate you for understanding.
Parents, I am excited to let you know that we have an attendance email address for you to email any absent notes for us to have documentation of. You can still send in a hard copy if you like, but this email may make it more convenient for you. The email address is wmhsattendance@johnston.k12.nc.us

I wanted all of our families and students to know that if a student does not ride the school bus that they are assigned to for 10 consecutive days, transportation will remove them from the route. Since we are well beyond our 10th day of school, I didn't want this to catch any of you off guard.
If your student is interested in trying out for any of our winter or spring sports, please email our athletic director, Mr. Betterton at bradleybetterton@johnston.k12.nc.us
Please make sure that you have an updated physical and completed all forms in the Final Forms program prior to going to workouts or tryouts. If you have any questions or need any assistance, you can email Mr. Betterton and he can help you.
Thank you so much for your time and attention! Have a wonderful evening!

October Calendar of Events
#JCPSDataPerformance | From the time every kindergartner walks through the doors of the school for the first time, the ultimate goal is for each one to walk out a graduate. That commitment remains at the heart of Johnston County Public Schools, and the district’s continued improvement in its graduation rate proves that to be true.

Graduation rates continued to improve during the 2025-2026 school year, with JCPS reaching an outstanding 92.6%, compared to the state rate of 88.8%.

A graduation rate that exceeds the state average is a significant accomplishment, and it reinforces JCPS’s commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and graduate prepared for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our entire school community to provide the high-quality education students need to reach graduation and prepare for their next chapter.

School Performance Data
#JCPSDataPerformance | The newly released data for the 2025-2026 school year has many great data points. One ranking among the most impressive is that JCPS has a performance composite of 61%. This composite score ranks the highest performance composite score under the current accountability model.

Data
Good evening Green Waves Family! This is Mr. Jewett, principal of Wilson's Mills High School, with some important information.
I wanted to again, say thank you to all of our staff, students, and parents for helping to make this first week an a half a wonderful start to the school year. We have a few changes/updates that we want you to be aware of.
Starting next week we will be moving our carpool drop-off time back to 6:45am. Our morning carpool has been very smooth and pushing it back to 6:45am would also allow me to have more staff on duty in the cafeteria for arrival.
I wanted to make sure that you know that our daily bell schedule will be changing starting on Tuesday, September 8th. Our schedule has included a homeroom time these first 10 days, but starting on day 11 (next Tuesday) our students will go directly to 1st block when the 7:00am bell rings. We will also be introducing a WAVE time as part of our schedule that day as well.
We will also be starting a second-chance breakfast offering on Tuesday, September 9th. If students do not have a chance to get a breakfast by 7:00am, they can order a breakfast in their 1st block class between 7:00am and 7:15am. That breakfast will be delivered to their class at the beginning of their 2nd block.
Our home football game for tomorrow against Rolesville High School has been moved back to a 7pm start time due to the heat.
And finally, I wanted to remind everyone that we do not have school for students or staff on Monday, September 7th- that is the Labor Day Holiday. Enjoy your 3-day weekend!
Thank you for your time and I hope you have a wonderful evening!
