Hello, Riverwood Ravens! Here is this week’s edition of News from the Nest. Students had a great time at our first Fun Friday this past week! Additional Fun Friday activities will be taking place every 2-3 weeks and will include grade level clubs and the Treat Trolley. This week, we have our first Early Release day of the year on Friday where students are released at 1:05pm. No students will be allowed to remain on campus after dismissal as staff members have county meetings in other locations. Also this week, progress reports will go home on Thursday with your students. 2025-2026 & 2026-2027 Calendar Options Feedback

Want to know more about the proposed JCPS assignment plan? We are hosting two Student Assignment Community Information sessions. The first session will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Wilson's Mills Elementary. The second information session will be held on Wednesday, October 1, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Swift Creek Middle School. Please note that all attendees will need to enter through the front entrance and proceed through the weapons detection system. The Johnston County Board of Education believes in providing thorough and timely information to the citizens of Johnston County. Based on the current weather forecast, Johnston County Public Schools will continue normal operations on Monday, September 16, 2024. However, all after-school and evening campus activities and events have been canceled due to the forecast. We understand that this decision will inconvenience many after-school events, however, student and staff safety is our primary concern. It is our district’s goal to make our school communities as prepared as possible for emergency situations, including inclement weather. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution, per the guidance of local and state emergency service officials. In conjunction with Johnston County Public Schools and the Johnston County Middle School Athletic Conference , we would like to remind everyone that our athletic contests are an extension of the classroom and part of the school setting. We ask that everyone remain positive, refrain from negative comments or behaviors, as well as treat others with respect and the way they would want to be treated. This week, we celebrated our academic accomplishments from the 23-24 school year as the State Board of Education released school performance data. I am so proud of our students and staff for their remarkable accomplishments last year and know that this year will be even better!
