We are hosting two Student Assignment Community Information sessions. The first session will be held on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Wilson's Mills Elementary. The second information session will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Swift Creek Middle School.
Please note that all attendees will need to enter through the front entrance and proceed through the weapons detection system.
The Johnston County Board of Education believes in providing thorough and timely information to the citizens of Johnston County. Therefore, the Board is providing pertinent information and soliciting community input.

JCPS is 1 of 12 districts to exceed pre-pandemic achievement?
Not only that, six of our amazing schools exited low performing status. All student subgroups are above pre-pandemic achievement, and JCPS is closing the achievement gaps.

The next data highlight from the 2023-2024 school year data report is phenomenal!
Twenty-three of our schools earned their way into the top 20% of the state for growth. This accomplishment is just one example of students, teachers, and parents working together to propel our district up!

Voters will have the opportunity on November 5, 2024, to vote for a bond that could provide $120 million to JCPS and continue to improve the quality of education we offer our community.
It is imperative that all of our leadership and school stakeholders understand the projects that will be funded by this referendum.

Johnston County Public Schools is in the process of selecting a calendar for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. 📅
During the September 10, regular scheduled meeting the JC Board of Education received three (3) calendar options for each school year, and has requested that each of the calendar options be made available for your review and feedback.

Here is this week’s edition of News from the Nest. Students had a great time at our first Fun Friday this past week! Additional Fun Friday activities will be taking place every 2-3 weeks and will include grade level clubs and the Treat Trolley. This week, we have our first Early Release day of the year on Friday where students are released at 1:05pm. No students will be allowed to remain on campus after dismissal as staff members have county meetings in other locations. Also this week, progress reports will go home on Thursday with your students. Please reach out to teachers directly with any questions or concerns.

Recent data shows that JCPS performed extremely well during the 2023-2024 year, lowering the number of low performing schools to ONLY 1, making the district the largest district with the lowest percentage of low performing schools!

Based on the current weather forecast, Johnston County Public Schools will continue normal operations on Monday, September 16, 2024. However, all after-school and evening campus activities and events have been canceled due to the forecast.
We understand that this decision will inconvenience many after-school events, however, student and staff safety is our primary concern.
It is our district’s goal to make our school communities as prepared as possible for emergency situations, including inclement weather. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution, per the guidance of local and state emergency service officials.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this storm event. We encourage everyone to follow the guidance of local weather officials, and have a safe evening!

The Riverwood Ravens are excited to welcome all fans to our athletic contests this school year! In conjunction with Johnston County Public Schools and the Johnston County Middle School Athletic Conference , we would like to remind everyone that our athletic contests are an extension of the classroom and part of the school setting. We ask that everyone remain positive, refrain from negative comments or behaviors, as well as treat others with respect and the way they would want to be treated. We ask for a show of appreciation and support of all athletes, coaches, and officials throughout all athletics events. We are thankful that our fans have the opportunity to support us and make our athletic competitions possible. Here is this week's edition of News from the Nest. It was another great week at The Nest as the school year is off to an EXCELLENT start for our students and staff! This week, we celebrated our academic accomplishments from the 23-24 school year as the State Board of Education released school performance data. I am so proud of our students and staff for their remarkable accomplishments last year and know that this year will be even better!

Hello, Riverwood Ravens! Here is this week's edition of News from the Nest. What an EXCELLENT first week of school! We spent much of the week setting expectations for students, building positive relationships, creating our grade level social contracts, and introducing curriculum. On Tuesday, we will hold our semi-annual grade level expectations class assemblies to reiterate grade level and school wide expectations, as well as our updated positive behavior point system and incentives.
