Good evening Riverwood Elementary School This is Mrs. Pawlak, your Assistant Principal. Tonight's message is specifically for our new Kindergarten families. Johnston County Public Schools is closing all campuses and offices on Thursday, August 8th due to inclement weather. As a result, we will need to postpone our Kindergarten Assessments that were originally scheduled. We plan to reschedule these assessments for Monday, August 12th. You will receive a new sign-up option by tomorrow morning. Please feel free to contact the school tomorrow between 7am and 1pm if you have any questions or concerns. Although it is extremely helpful to have students assessed in advance, all students will be placed in a class if for some reason you are not able to attend the new date and time. We are ecstatic to announce that Mrs. Melissa Hurst, newly appointed principal of Corinth Holders High School - JCPS (2023-24 principal of @Princeton Elementary) and Mrs. Shannon Pawlak, Assistant Principal of Riverwood Elementary School have been recognized as the JCPS 2024-2025 Principal and Assistant Principal of the year, respectively. Congratulations to both on this honorable recognition! We are incredibly proud to have you all here in JCPS!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer! We are excited for you to meet our Assistant Principal Intern for this coming school year, Mr. Jonathan Anderson. Mr. Anderson will be hosting a book exchange and give away tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16th from 5-7 pm here at the front of the school. We will have a book for anyone who stops by and will also have some ice cream to cool off with! I am looking forward to seeing everyone and hearing about all the great books you are reading this summer! Also, we have scheduled the Back to School Orientation for Thursday, August 22nd and will have more information to come as we get closer to the school year. ✏️Please join us from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, July 16th to meet Mr. Jonathan Anderson, our Assistant Principal Intern for this year. I want to congratulate our 3rd-5th graders for working so hard last week for the Reading and Math EOGs. 5th graders will take the Science EOG tomorrow, Wednesday, May 29th. Letters will go home this Friday, May 31st with all 3rd-5th graders with EOG scores. Also, we are excited for Field Day for Kindergarten-2nd graders this Thursday, May 30th and for 3rd-5th graders this Friday, May 31st. If you signed up to donate snacks or purchase supplies please send those by tomorrow. Thank you so much to PTA for purchasing field day shirts for every student again this year, they will be passed out the morning of your child’s field day! Please make sure you send in a change of CLOTHES and SHOES for Field Day as there will be water activities! The kids are going to get WET!! Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. As a reminder, our 3rd-5th graders will be taking the Reading EOG this Thursday, May 23 and the Math EOG Friday, May 24th. Our 5th graders will be taking the Science EOG on Wednesday, May 29th. We are excited for our students to be able to show what they know and have learned this year! We are super proud of how hard all of our students have worked this year. I realize many of you may have plans for Memorial Day weekend but I ask that you refrain from picking up any 3rd-5th graders until 1:30 pm or after this Friday as we cannot pull them from an active test session. Also, school will be closed on Monday, May 27th to honor the Memorial Day Holiday. All EOG score reports with EOG scores will be sent home with students on Friday, May 31st. We are looking forward to the end of the year events. Please reference the letter that was sent home last week for specific dates and times for events. RES Battle of the Books honored tonight at the JCPS Special Recognition Ceremony for placing 1st place in JCPS and 3rd place at the Regional competition. Congratulations and we’re so proud of this team! Thank you Mrs. West and Mrs. McGuire for your commitment and love to our kiddos!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. As a reminder, we have our PTA Spirit Night at Culvers this Wednesday, May 15th from 5-8 pm. We look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday night. Also, as we near the end of the school year, we are coming upon many very important dates. We will be sending a letter home this week that includes all of the end of year dates. Please take a look at the Field Day sign ups on the PTA Facebook page. We are still in need of donations and volunteers for our Field Days. Volunteers are busy planning for the 5th Grade EOY Celebration scheduled for June 6th. The sign-ups for donations and volunteers for the 5th Grade Celebration are open, so please check them out and sign up where you can. As we near the end of the school year, I ask that parents remember and adhere to carpool expectations while in our carpool line. We ask for your patience and that you are paying careful attention so that we can ensure that our students, staff, and pedestrians are safe at all times. Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. We are very excited for Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week this week. I feel so blessed each and every day to work with such an exceptional group of teachers and support staff at our great school. We will be celebrating our wonderful teachers and staff all week from Monday, May 6th to Friday, May 10th. Please reference the flyer that was sent to parents for all of the fun and exciting things taking place this week. Also, Quarter 4 progress reports will go home on Tuesday, May 7th. We have just two and a half weeks before our 3rd-5th graders begin their end of grade testing. 3rd-5th EOG Reading is Thursday, May 23rd, 3rd-5th EOG Math is Friday, May 24th and 5th Grade EOG Science is Wednesday, May 29th.
