Good evening Patriot families, Tomorrow, October 30th is a teacher workday. There is no school for students. Tuesday, October 31st there will be no costumes allowed. Please wear regular school attire. Friday afternoon, November 3rd is the Pizza Party for all students who turned in their Principal Book Club log and read 25 books for Quarter 1! I am so proud of you. Finally, Monday, November 6, Q1 report cards will be going home with students and will include a paper that shows what your child's standards for their grade is. Hopefully this will help families know what is expected by the end of the year in user friendly language. Have a great evening. See you Tuesday!

Families, Don't forget that the logs for the Principals Book Club are due tomorrow. They cannot be accepted late! I have re-shared the digital link on our MCES Facebook page. You can fill it out online and email it to Mrs. Dunn or print it off if you've misplaced your paper one and send it to school tomorrow. I can't wait to celebrate with everyone soon!

Good evening Patriot families, this is a reminder that Picture Day is tomorrow, Monday, October 16th. This will be for individual pictures as well as class pictures. There is not a spring picture day, so this year take advantage of this fall opportunity if that is something you are interested in. Please do not dress your child in green clothing tomorrow due to the pictures being taken on a green screen. This feature allows you to choose the background color after picture day, but also makes green clothing disappear into the background. If something happens or your child is sick, there is a make up picture day scheduled for November 16th. Thank you and have a great evening.

Veda Swan, a fifth grade student at McGee's Crossroads Elementary, received a Character Education Award for the trait of Respect! Swan continuously demonstrates a level of maturity in the school setting, and she models positive behavior for her peers. When she does not agree with the opinions of others, she is able to express that in a respectful manner. Swan is welcoming to all of her classmates, and treats everyone as equals. Patriot Nation, let's hear it for Veda Swan!!! 👏👏👏

Good evening Patriot Families, This is your principal, Lyndsey Dunn with lots of information from our PTA. Last week, our students were engaged in a friendly competition through Penny Wars as they entered the building everyday, and it paid off! The final fundraiser total and prizes will be announced tomorrow. But for now - the winning grade level was fourth grade students and teachers! Second place was our Prek/Kindergarten team and third place was our 1st grade team. Thank you all for being such willing players in this effort! The next event with PTA is our Fall Carnival for students in grades 3rd, 4th and 5th. The event will be held Friday, October 13 from 6:00-8:00 pm. This is not a halloween carnival where costumes are expected or encouraged. This is a fall carnival and we do not want students to wear costumes, but rather their typical school attire. The carnival will have games, inflatables, face painting, concessions and more. The cost for pre-admission is $5 per student and that includes 5 tickets and a wristband. Pre-admission wristbands will allow you to skip the line for entry to the carnival and enter upon arrival. If you pre-order, tickets and wristbands will be sent home with students on Thursday, October 12th. The cut-off to pre-order admission is Wednesday, October 11st at 8:00 p.m. No one will be allowed to pre-order on Thursday or Friday. If you purchase admission at the door, it is $7 per student and this includes 5 tickets. This is a cash only event and additional tickets can be purchased at ticket booths during the carnival. All students must be accompanied by an adult and everyone must park and enter through the front parking lot only. Thank you for your continued support. We couldn’t do what we do without each and every one of you.

Good evening, Patriot Families! We are so excited and ready for PENNY WARS to start tomorrow! Here is a quick run through on how it works….students can bring pennies and bills to win their grade positive points! They can also have fun and be sneaky by bringing in silver coins to add negative points to another grades bucket! Families, you can get involved too with online bucket deposits, just follow the QR link on the flyers or the TPA social media pages to help your student’s grade win points! Look for the buckets at the main entrance by the office when you come into school. Each grade has a character theme representing them…..the characters are : Animal Crossings for Pre K and Kindergarten, Mario Brothers for 1st grade, 2nd grade Minecraft, 3rd grade Pokemon, 4th grade Roblox and 5th grade Zelda. PTA members will be keeping close track and giving an update on who’s grade is in the lead at morning announcements each day! The winning grade will be receiving a big grade level appropriate prize to be announced next week! LET THE GAMES BEGIN! Thank you for all that you do to support our school.

Good evening Patriot Families, This is your principal, Lyndsey Dunn with a few updates. The Scholastic Book Fair begins Thursday, 9/14 in the gym and will be open through Thursday, 9/21. Parents who would like to attend with their child can come between 8:30 and 9:00 am. Students will also be going as a class and your child’s teacher will communicate this information. If these opportunities do not work for you, we hope you will join us on Monday, September 18 for our Curriculum and Family night from 6:00-8:00 p.m. You will hear our Title I information in the cafeteria, visit your child’s classroom and also visit the Book Fair. This will allow you to shop with your child. This past week our Kindergarten students got adjusted to being back in school and they handled it like champions, although I’m sure they came home tired. Tomorrow, Monday, September 11 will be their independence day where parents allow all students, K-5th, to walk to their class by themselves. We will have adults stationed in the hallway to help assist them if needed. Just a few reminders for the afternoon. We are a large school and carpool will always require patience and kindness. It does tend to slow down as our Kindergarten students learn the process and try to look for their cars. A few things that will help it run smoothly, is if you have your carpool tag displayed on the mirror for easy viewing and if you remain in your car while your student is loading. If you do not have a car rider tag, you will need to ask the front office for one on Monday. The front office has been super busy with families checking out their students around 3:15 to avoid carpool. Please know, when you do this, students are missing instruction. Therefore, it is very important that unless there is an appointment or emergency, we ask that you have your student remain in school all day. Attendance directly relates to a student's ability to learn. Please remember that our teachers are very busy teaching our students and are not often on their phones where they can check emails or receive phone calls outside of their planning time. If you are going to make a dismissal/transportation change for the same day, you will need to call the front office, as soon as you know about this change so that it doesn’t become confusing for the child or the teacher. The front office will inform the student and the teacher so that everyone can be on the same page. Thank you for all that you do. Our goal every single day is to ensure that our students are happy and safe - so that they can learn to the best of their ability. All of these measures help with this and none of it would be possible with your support. We appreciate you all so very much. Have a great evening!

Good evening Patriot families, This is your principal, Lyndsey Dunn, with updates for the week. First off, thank you all for a wonderful first week of school. Students were entering with smiles on their faces and already knew how to get to their classes without any assistance. Monday is reserved as a holiday, so we hope you can enjoy family time since there will be no school. 1st through 5th grade students will return to school on Tuesday, September 5th. This week we will also welcome our Kindergarten and Pre-K students. Some of our Pre-K students arrive on Wednesday, 9/6 and some arrive on Thursday, 9/7. They will join us fully on Friday, 9/8. Pre-k carpool riders will arrive at 9:00 in the front parking lot and will enter through the office. Passes have been provided to Pre-K parents by Mrs. Cooper. The students will be dismissed at 3:30 and parents will come through the front parking lot and the front office as well. Our kindergarten students have slightly different dates. Half of our Kindergarten students will join us on Tuesday, 9/5 and half on Wednesday, 9/6. All Kindergarten students will come together fully on Thursday, 9/7. Kindergarten parents are welcome to walk their children in for this first week, but we ask that you park in the middle school parking lot so that carpool can continue to move smoothly. Visitor stickers will be given to you as you enter the front of the building. Our arrival bell rings at 8:30. We also have an announcement from our wonderful PTA: Our Fall Book Fair this year will be held September 14th through September 21st. This event is successful every year because of the support from our volunteers. There is a Signup Genius on the MCES PTA Rooms Board along with a link on all PTA social media pages. Please check that out and come serve anytime you can, even if it is only for an hour! Our Book Fair Family Night will be on September 18th in the gymnasium from 6pm to 8pm - so save the date!
