Thousands of supplies. Hundreds of donors. One common goal…helping those in their time of need. ❤
Today our Facility Services team gathered supplies from our schools, which were Hurricane Helene Relief donation sites. In a few hours, these supplies will be transported to Western North Carolina.
Thank you to the many, many students, parents, and staff who have responded promptly and compassionately.
Also, a special thanks to Johnston County Government and the Johnston County Sheriff's Office for allowing us to partner with you in this effort. 🤝

As we provide critical assistance to our neighbors in Western North Carolina, here's a reminder of our district's partnership with Johnston County Government's Hurricane Helene Relief Effort.
The region is in dire need of new, unused blankets. As you continue supporting the relief efforts, place these at the top of the list.
Thank you!

JCPS continues to exceed the state average graduation rate! 🎓

Happy Friday, Explorer Families! We hope that you have all stayed safe and dry during our weather event. Thank you to all of you who came out last night for our AVID Curriculum Night. We were excited to share our beginning of the year student data, and hope you were able to set some goals with your child. AVID-advancement via individual determination--is our school's framework for school improvement, and we are happy to create an environment for students which yields achievement and success. If you did not have a chance to make the event, your child's teacher will be sending home your child's beginning of the year testing reports with a goal setting sheet. Simply return that sheet to your child's teacher.
Here are some updates for the coming week:
On Thursday and Friday, our 3rd grade students will take the state required CogAt test. CogAt is a general aptitude test which is given to all students to screen for their ability to reason, think critically, and problem solve. Please reach out to your child's teacher for more information.
All of our students will be beginning our AIR Time flex groups this week. We have provided an overview of AIR time for our school. All students in 1st-5th grade will be changing classes so that they are aligned with the skill they most need to work on improving. We have 4 tutors who we have hired to work with our students on reading skills, which allows all teachers to have small groups. While your child may not be working with a tutor, all students are aligned to their needs based on beginning of the year assessments. We will monitor all progress and may make changes as goals are met.
Have a wonderful and safe weekend!

Did you know...
JCPS is 1 of 12 districts to exceed pre-pandemic achievement?
Not only that, six of our amazing schools exited low performing status. All student subgroups are above pre-pandemic achievement, and JCPS is closing the achievement gaps.

AVID Night with student-led conferences is tomorrow with classroom presentations beginning at 5pm! AIG night for identified students at 6:30pm in the Media Center! Testing reports will be provided.

The next data highlight from the 2023-2024 school year data report is phenomenal!
Twenty-three of our schools earned their way into the top 20% of the state for growth. This accomplishment is just one example of students, teachers, and parents working together to propel our district up!
