Vivi Perry, is our first Character Education Award recipient for November! 🥳 A fifth grader at East Clayton Elementary, Perry is recognized for her dependability. She is not only reliable in her own efforts, but also displays a positive attitude and willingness to assist others. The motto at East Clayton Elementary is to prepare, adapt, and succeed. Happy Friday, Explorer Families! Here are some updates for the week ahead: On Monday, students will not have school in observance of Veteran's Day. We want to thank all veterans and military service members on our staff and in our community. All of us appreciate and thank you for the work that you do. Be on the lookout for some items that have come home with your child. You should have received a packet from the PTA regarding our current School Store fundraiser. Please sign up your child to help support our school. We also ask that all families join the PTA. Joining the PTA is small donation that helps our PTA operate. They do a lot to support our students, teachers, and community, and this membership fee allows the work to continue. Finally, we hope you received our Disguise a Turkey family craft activity. We hope that you choose to participate and have fun with this family craft. We will place these on display for our classes to do a "Gobble Wobble" to view everyone's work. Reach out to your child's teacher with any questions. Have a great weekend!

Happy Friday, Explorer Families!  This is Mrs. Sabo with some updates for our busy week ahead. On Monday, our school will begin our Red Ribbon Spirit Week.  Red Ribbon Week is a national campaign held annually in October in the United States to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and violence prevention, where people wear red ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to a drug-free lifestyle.  Please view the attached flyer to see how we will celebrate each day. Also on Monday, our grades 3-5 students will take their MVP assessments for Reading for the 1st quarter.  These tests are aligned to the EOG, and let us know how well students are mastering the grade level standards for the year.  On Wednesday, students will take the MVP for Math.  Please be sure students are on-time for these tests as we will begin first thing in the morning.   Teachers will communicate these results with you when we receive them.  On Tuesday, students will bring home their 1st quarter report cards.  If you have any questions about your child’s progress, please schedule a conference with the teacher. On Thursday, students in K-1 will participate in a costume parade at 9:15am.  Students in grades 2-5 will follow the Red Ribbon Week theme, “dress like what you want to be when you grow up!”  Please be sure all costumes are school appropriate.   On Friday, we will host our first Explorer Experience for the year.  East Clayton’s school culture is grounded in a team approach called, “The Explorer Experience.”  Teams gather monthly at The Explorer Experience assemblies to celebrate the hard work academically, socially, and emotionally.  For this event, we will highlight students for September who showed self-discipline, and for October who showed responsibility.  These traits follow our STRONG model for school-wide expectations.   Your child’s teacher should reach out to you if your child is getting an award, and we would love for you to attend.  Just a warning though, sometimes we get loud with excitement!  Students all received their team Explorer Experience shirt, courtesy of the PTA, and should wear this shirt on Friday.   We can’t wait to celebrate a fun week.  Have a wonderful weekend!
