For students following the traditional school calendar, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 is an early release day. Then students will be out of school from Thursday, December 21, 2023 - Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 2, 2024.

We have our Cultural Celebration & Food Festival scheduled on Friday, December 15th at 12:30 pm. Students in our dual-language classrooms and classrooms taught by our international teachers will share multi-cultural performances in the gym from 12:30 to 1:45 pm. Families are invited and encouraged to bring in food samples from their cultures or countries to share with our school community at the Food Festival in the cafeteria from 1:45-3:00 pm.

What a fantastic performance by our chorus students tonight! They performed “Cold Snap” by John Jacobson in front of a packed audience. We also enjoyed the terrific student artwork displayed in the Art Gallery this evening. Thank you to all our families for supporting our fine arts programs!

Mrs. Silber, our art teacher, will be coordinating seasonal craft activities for students in the cafeteria from 5:15-6:15 pm on this night. The Chorus Performance is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm and the Art Exhibit will be displayed in the gym.
Second Quarter Progress Reports will be sent home with students on Thursday, December 7th.

JCPS Transportation Department just shared information about bus #657 being late for our student dismissal this afternoon (Nov. 15th). According to the information we've been provided, we do not expect Bus #657 to arrive on our campus for dismissal until 5:00 pm or after. We are sharing this information with our families as soon as possible so you can arrange alternate transportation for your students if possible. We apologize for this inconvenience. Please contact your child's teacher to change their afternoon transportation to carpool if needed. Thank you.

Aliyah Hemans is the next November Character Education Award recipient! A fifth grader at Cooper Academy, she was recognized for the character trait of Responsibility - Being accountable for your own actions.
Aliyah leads by example by consistently coming to class prepared, completing all of her assignments, staying on task, and serving as a mentor to students who are struggling with classwork. She consistently demonstrates responsibility in and outside of the classroom!

The PTA is hosting an Art Open House, Crafts for First Responders, Movie Night and PTA Meeting on Thursday, November 16th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. Good evening Cooper Academy families. We can't wait to see everyone tomorrow at 1:30 pm for our First Quarter Student-Led Conferences. Our students are extremely excited to show off all the growth they’ve been making throughout the first part of the school year.
Thank you again for returning your child's report card envelope to your child’s teacher. The envelopes will be used at the end of each quarter to send report cards home.

Good evening Cooper Academy families. The past few weeks have been a blast celebrating our school spirit week and dressing as our favorite book characters on our Book Blast delivery day! We delivered over 2,000 books to our students to help build up their home libraries on this special day. We also appreciate our family engagement in our Fall Book Fair. Thank you for reading with your child 15 minutes every night! This makes a huge impact on the development of our students’ literacy skills.
Just a reminder that Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend.
Report cards will be sent home with students on Monday, November 6th. After reviewing your child’s report card please make sure to sign/date the report card envelope and return the envelope to your child’s teacher. The envelopes will be used at the end of each quarter to send report cards home. Please contact your child’s teacher if you wish to schedule an individual conference.
