Good evening Cooper Academy Families! Just a reminder that tomorrow is the final day of the Book Fair.
Tomorrow is also Hat & Sunglasses Day for spirit week. “Wear your hat and sunglasses to show you’re too cool for drugs!”
On October 31st it is “Dress as your favorite book character day.”
“Book Blast” Books will be delivered to students on October 31st!
The first quarter of school ends on October 27th.
JCPS has a Teacher Workday on October 30th. There is no school for students.
Report Cards go home on November 6th.
Student-Led Conferences are scheduled on November 9th from 1:30-3:30 pm.
On November 10th schools are closed for Veterans Day.
Students in grades 3-5 will attend a field trip to the Clayton Center on November 15th for a performance. Students must have a signed parent permission form to attend the trip. Please return all permission forms by November 3rd.
Our next school spirit night is on November 15th from 5:00-8:00 at Culver’s. We hope to see you there!
Make-up picture day for newly enrolled students and for those families wanting a retake will be on Thursday, November 16th.
The 4th & 5th grade school Spelling Bee is November 21st at 9:30.

The first official meeting for Battle of the Books club will be held on Wednesday, October 18th from 4:15-5:15 pm in the media center. Students will need to have a parent permission form returned to Mrs. McGahey to stay after school for this club.
The Statewide Earthquake Drill is scheduled for Thursday, October 19th. Students will practice the “Drop, Cover, and Hold On” safety procedure.
Fall Festival is just around the corner, Saturday, October 21st from 10:00-2:00.

Good evening Cooper Academy families. This is Mr. Stoke sharing some reminders and information about upcoming events. First, we thank Coach Brown and the Clayton Police Department for coordinating our Bike-Walk to School Day tomorrow morning. Those who wish to participate will meet in the parking lot of Clayton Chiropractic at 201 East Main Street between 7:45 and 8:00. The Clayton Police Department will provide a safe escort for our students and families for this event to the school site.
Sign-up now for advance sales to the Fall Festival Event scheduled for Saturday, October 21st from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Grand Opening for the Fall Book Fair takes place on this date as well! The Book Fair is October 21st-27th.

It is extremely important that our newly enrolled kindergarten students have their immunizations and health assessments completed as soon as possible. We are fast approaching the deadline for these items to be complete. Unfortunately, any students who do not have these items completed by the deadline will not be permitted to attend school by state law until this is complete. Contact the school nurse with any questions.

The First Priority Club is hosting a special "See You at the Pole" event on Tuesday, September 26th at 7:50 am. Mrs. Fish is the First Priority Club Sponsor this year.
Please plan on attending our Open House on Tuesday, September 26th from 6:00-7:30 pm. Teachers will be sharing beginning of year assessment data with parents. Third grade teachers will be reviewing Read to Achieve information for families in the Media Center on this night. We will have a brief meeting in the gym to highlight our school’s academic growth along with information about being a Title I school from 6:00-6:15. Students with Academically Gifted Plans will be available for parents to review. First Quarter Progress Reports will be sent home with students on Thursday, September 28th for grades 1-5.

These are the pictures that will be in the yearbook at the end of the school year. Order forms were sent home with students on Monday. Families can order pictures by sending in cash or checks payable to Strawbridge Studios or families can order pictures online using our school code of “FM426084” on the picture company website www.strawbridge.net.

Let’s finish strong with our Book Blast Event placing new books in the hands of all students to keep in their home libraries! Congratulations to our Treasure Box winners and the Grand Prize iPad winner! So far, we’ve placed $17,852 dollars worth of books in students' hands for their reading enjoyment! Developing strong readers is the key to academic success for students! The event closes on September 24th. Books will be delivered to the school individually packaged for our students in late October. All students in the school will receive at least one book.

Exciting news! As you know, we've partnered with Books Are Fun and their Book Blast program to help build our students' home libraries. For over 30 years, Books Are Fun has been a trusted partner in promoting literacy. Developing strong readers is vital for student success and confidence in the classroom.
Yesterday and today our students learned about the Book Blast Program and the importance of having their own books at home. Tonight, we ask you to take 7 minutes to help build your child’s home library.
