JCPS will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

All students and staff should report to schools and campuses on a two-hour delay.

We have been advised that the potential of black ice is possible tonight through Tuesday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions. To allow for better road visibility for our bus drivers, students, and staff drivers, we will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow. We encourage all travelers, especially our student drivers, to travel with caution.

School nutrition will serve breakfast upon students’ arrival. Early morning care will open two hours later than the normal start time.

Thank you for your understanding as we work with local safety and emergency officials to ensure that we are all safe during these inclement weather events.

The holiday season is right around the corner! To celebrate the season of giving, Cleveland Elementary will be doing our annual Holiday Help program for some of our Cleveland families who may need a little assistance in making this holiday season brighter. We are looking for sponsors to fulfill the needs of our families. If you would like to sign up to sponsor a child(ren), please use this link: Holiday Help Sign-up Genius. All information can be found at the link.

Sponsors are asked to purchase the following brand new items for each child: one coat, one shirt, one pair of pants, one pair of shoes, socks, underwear, one pair of pajamas, one gift item.

Sponsors may also include a gift card for the family to a grocery store, Walmart, or Target. It is not necessary to wrap the gifts. We just ask that all items be delivered in a large gift bag marked with the assigned number to the school counselor by Friday, December 12, 2025. Please contact LaTonya Foster at latonyafoster@johnston.k12.nc.us with any questions.

Check out the brand new retaining wall for our basketball court! Aaron Hershberger, dad of 3rd grader Reid Hershberger, and Gavin Ripley, dad of 5th grader Keira Ripley, donated their own supplies, time, and muscle to build this retaining wall over the weekend. We are really hopeful that it helps with the sand run-off from the hill so that our students can enjoy the basketball court. We are so appreciative of our amazing parents at CvES!
