Johnston County Firefighters Week starts today! 🚒
This week, we honor those who serve their communities with selfless acts of bravery daily.
To train the next generation of firefighters, JCPS is proud to partner with the professional men and women of the Johnston County Fire Service, Johnston Community College, and The Office of The State Fire Marshal to offer the Fire Science Program.
This program, available at Clayton High and Smithfield-Selma High, provides an opportunity for students to earn the certifications and a degree to be employable and promotable within the ranks of the Fire Service upon completion of the program.

JCPS held an Academic Press Conference to celebrate the achievements of the school district for the 2023-2024 school year! 👏🎉
Data released this week from the NC Department of Public Instruction revealed that 85% of schools in the district met or exceeded growth during the 2023-2024 academic year.
JCPS also ranked 35th in the state overall and is the largest school district in NC with the lowest percentage of low performing schools, among other academic achievements.

The JCPS Collaborative Walkthrough team began their first district-wide walkthroughs today at Johnston County Career & Technical Leadership Academy and Early College Academy.
The walkthroughs provide valuable feedback and highlight current best practices, increasing academic performance and overall student success. 🎓
Kindergarten students will begin their year on a staggered schedule! 🍎
Beginning tomorrow, August 28th, half of the students will attend, and the other half will attend on Thursday, August 29th.
If you aren't sure, please check with your school to specify which date your child will attend.
All kindergarten students will attend on August 30th.

There were lots of smiles as friends reunited after summer break. And, of course, there were a few tears. The beautiful morning weather was filled with unlimited possibilities for new learning and experiences.
