Smithfield-Selma High senior earns experience of a lifetime
Smithfield-Selma High senior and Smithfield native Jude Reece was recently among a special group of students invited inside the halls of power in Washington, D.C. through the U.S. Senate Youth Program. He was one of only two delegates from North Carolina, and one of 104 delegates from across the country chosen for this honor.

South Johnston High freshmen learn the art of debate
Who doesn’t love a good debate? In various forms, debating has a long history, and can be traced back to the philosophical and political debates of Ancient Greece. For ninth grade students in Machelle Rowe’s World History class, debating has become a South Johnston High tradition.

March Character Education Award recipients
At the March 2023 Regular Session Board of Education meeting, the March Character Education Award recipients were recognized by the Board. Recipients are nominated by their teachers for one of five character traits including compassion, integrity, self-discipline, courage, and dependability.

Johnston County Public Schools is committed to building well-rounded students and consistently improving our schools for greater student success. JCPS is participating in an opportunity to gather feedback on how we can better meet our goals of improving student success. We are aware that families may want to preview the questions that will be asked of their students, and have prepared copies of the questions that will be asked.

Updated School Nutrition Information for 2022-23
We hope that you and your student have already noticed some of the exciting new food and meal opportunities we are offering in our cafeterias this school year. Our new options will include more fresh produce, vegetarian options, and opportunities for students to customize their meal choice. These new offerings will be available at both breakfast and lunch.
