Good morning Wilson's Mills Family! This is Chad Jewett, principal of Wilson's Mills with a quick reminder regarding Fall Sports.
Our Athletic Director and I will be meet with parents of students interested in participating any of our sport programs. This would be especially important for anyone wanting to play one of our fall sports (since summer workouts will be beginning soon). This meeting will take place on Thursday, June 4th at 6pm at SSS High School in the auditorium. In this meeting we will help families check their eligibility status and how upload physicals to the Final Forms application for JCPS. If you are not able to attend in person, but have questions or need assistance you can email our athletic director, Mr. Brad Betterton, at bradleybetterton@johnston.k12.nc.us
Our fall sports will begin summer workouts very soon. Volley workouts will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9am-11am starting June 8th at Smithfield Middle School's gym. Football workouts will be on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8am-11am starting June 9th- these will also be held at Smithfield Middle on their football field. Boys soccer workouts will be July 7th, July 9th, July 14th, and July 16th from 9am to 10:15am- these will be held at the SRAC soccer field

I noticed that there was a typo (my error) in the message that went out last week in regards to a meeting for parents interested in starting a WMHS Band Booster Club. That meeting is tonight, May 26th at 6pm at SSS High School in their media center. The message had March 26th as a typo. Please come out tonight if you have a child interested in being in our school band and you are interested in partnering with our Band Director, Jason Heard, to help get our band off to a great start. Our Band Director and I will be hosting a meeting next Tuesday, March 26th for any parents interested in helping us establish a Band Booster Club for Wilson's Mills High School. This meeting will take place at SSS High School at 6pm in the media center. Just come to the front entrance and we will help direct you to the media center.

I wanted to quickly say that Wilson's Mills High School will not be hosting any driver's education classes this summer. We will not be able to move into our building until mid-July. The first driver's education classes at WMHS will begin in October 2026. If you need for your student to take driver's education this summer, you visit the driver's education page on the JCPS website for the summer schedule.
And finally, I wanted to let you know that I have posted a presentation for our Parent Advisory Council and our Parent, Student, Teacher Organization on our Facebook page. We had a meeting for parents interested in either of these organizations several weeks ago, but I know some people may not have been able to attend. If you are interested in serving in either of these, please review the presentation on Facebook.

We are thrilled to invite you to our very first WMHS Band Parent Meeting. This meeting will be held on May 26th at 6pm at SSS High School in their cafeteria. We cannot build this legacy alone, and we look forward to partnering with you to ensure our inaugural year is nothing short of extraordinary.
Our summer workout schedule for our fall sports will be coming out very soon- we will post this information on our Facebook page and our school website (which is now officially live). We will also do another Thrillshare message with that information.
Please mark your calendars for these upcoming dates- August 2nd at 3pm is our School Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony/Dedication; August 4th from 9am to 11am is our Freshman Orientation at WMHS; August 6th from 9am to 11am is our Sophomore Orientation at WMHS; August 18th will be our Open House (time TBD); August 24th is the First Day of School for 2026-2027.

I have been posting updated pictures of the building and the pictures/bios of our staff for this upcoming school year. Just today, I also posted a great video and information from our Band Director, Mr. Jason Heard, about our band program- please go online and view that with your student.
I wanted to give you all several dates that are now set in preparation for the upcoming school year. In our meet and greet meetings in March many of you signed up via our QR codes indicating that you are interested in serving on our Booster Club board, Parent Advisory Council, or with our PTSO organization. We are having informational meetings on those opportunities this week (I did send an earlier email to individuals who completed the form, but if you didn't get a chance to do that and your are interested you are welcome to come). Parents interested in serving on our Booster Club board will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, May 5th at SSS High School at 6pm in the cafeteria. Parents interested in serving on either the Parent Advisory Council or with our PTSO organization will meet this Thursday, May 7th at SSS High School at 6pm in the cafeteria.
Our school dedication will take place on Sunday, August 2nd at 3pm at Wilson's Mills High School. This is open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
Our rising 9th grader students and parents will have an orientation on Tuesday, August 4th from 9am to 11am; and our rising 10th grade students and parents will have an orientation on Thursday, August 6th from 9am to 11am. We want to make sure our students get a chance to tour the school and learn about the school prior to Open House or their first day of school.
Our Open House will take place on Tuesday, August 18th. The exact times have not been finalized yet, but it will be that afternoon/evening. This way you can go ahead and put it on your calendars. This is when students will be getting their schedules for the school year.
Then, and it will be here before we know it, the first day of school for the 2026-2027 school year is on Monday, August 24th

We have our next two Meet and Greet meetings this week (these are our last two meetings as well). We will be at North Johnston Middle School tonight (3/31/26) at 6pm in the cafeteria. Our next Meet and Greet will take place this Thursday, April 2nd at Archer Lodge Middle school at 6pm in the cafeteria. Please come out to meet us if you have not already- these have been very well attended and we will be going over a lot of information and there will be an opportunity for us to answer any questions you have.
Please mark you calendars for some very important upcoming dates. The dedication of the new Wilson's Mills High School will take place on Sunday, August 2nd at 3pm. This is open to the public and we would love for you to join us if you can. Also, we are going to have orientation days for our freshman class and our sophomore class- this is different from our Open House night where you will meet the teachers. Our orientation days will provide you and your student an opportunity to tour the school, learn about the schedule and school expectations, hear about our programs (in both academics and extracurriculars). We are planning our freshman orientation date for Tuesday, August 4th from 9am to 11am; and our sophomore orientation date for Thursday, August 6th from 9am to 11am.

I am excited about our Meet and Greets this week. The one's last week at Riverwood Middle and Swift Creek Middle went very well. We will be having Meet and Greets this week starting tonight (3/23/26) at Smithfield Middle School at 6pm (in the cafeteria) and at Selma Middle School tomorrow night (3/23/26) at 6pm. We will have a presentation that will take approximately 30 minutes and then we will stay as long as we need to answer questions you have.
