Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements for this week. The Book Fair is off to a wonderful start. Family Night is on Tuesday, April 29th from 4:30-7:00. Come out and enjoy the Book Fair with your whole family. We will have "Pelican’s SnoBalls" Snow Cones out front for purchase also! We will be having our PTA Meeting on Thursday evening from 6:00-7:00 in the cafeteria. Please make plans to attend this meeting as we will be electing PTA officers. Next week, May 5th-9th is TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK. We hope that you can take the opportunity to recognize and spoil our amazing RDE teachers who are some of the very best around! It is hard to believe that we are getting so close to the end of this school year. It really has flown by. EOG testing is right around the corner and our students are READY! Friday, May 9th is the Reading EOG for grades 3, 4, and 5. Monday, May 12th is the Science EOG for 5th grade. And Tuesday, May 13th is the Math EOG for grades 3, 4, and 5. The last day for students is May 22nd, and that day is an early release day at 1:45. We hope everyone has a great evening and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer. Have a good night.

Hello Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders. Kindergarten registration is open now and can be accessed online. On Thursday we will have a special kindergarten readiness night for rising kindergarten parents from 5:30 to 6:30 in the school cafeteria. Childcare will be available that night as well. Another reminder that the school book fair starts on Friday. Also, our breakfast with a buddy event begins on Friday. Please check out the River Dell PTA Facebook page for a detailed schedule. Johnston County Public Schools hosted its 31st annual Flame For Learning Awards celebration this evening, naming William Marshall as the 2025 Teacher of the Year! Marshall, a teacher and alumnus of West Johnston Wildcats, was one of four finalists, which included Heather Bryant of Clayton High School, Lois D'Agostino of West View Elementary, and Brooke Hayward of Riverwood Elementary School. On behalf of Johnston County Public Schools, the Johnston County Board of Education, and the Johnston County Coalition of Chambers, congratulations to all of the nominees and William Marshall, our 2025 Teacher of the Year! Kindergarten Readiness Night will be held on Thursday, April 24th from 5:30-6:30pm in our cafeteria. Tips for success, daily overview, screener process, and important dates will be shared at this meeting.

Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some announcements for the week ahead. We hope you all have enjoyed your Spring Break and you have had time to relax and enjoy time with your family and friends. We are excited to return to school tomorrow. Tomorrow will be Field Day for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades at 12:00 noon. Parents are welcome to attend as well. The JCPS Safety Department was hard at work over Spring Break creating a new, much safer, crosswalk for our families that walk to and from school. Please make sure to follow the new sidewalk all the way around to the new crosswalk so you no longer will have to cross so close to Buffalo Rd. We are excited for this additional level of safety for our Racer families. Teachers are ready to jump right in tomorrow and begin the final push toward the end of the year. Please make sure that your children arrive so that they can be in their seats when the tardy bell rings at 8:55am. Also, another reminder to refrain from checking your children out early unless there is a doctor appointment or a family emergency. These final weeks are so important and we want to make sure that every RDE student is present for the entire day. We hope you all have a wonderful evening and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer. Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders. Field Day for 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades has been changed due to impeding rain and storms tomorrow. The new date is Monday, April 21st. Tomorrow is our final day of school before Spring Break. We have some families that have begun their Spring Breaks early, and we want to encourage all car riders to please be at school for pick up tomorrow afternoon no later than 4:00, as carpool will definitely finish much sooner. Spring Break is from April 12th-April 20th and we will return to school on April 21st. We hope everyone has a wonderful evening and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer. Have a good night.

Students should arrive before 8:55 so that they can be in their seats, in their classrooms at 8:55am. 5th grade parents, please send in $10 for the 5th grade End of Year Celebration at your earliest convenience. We have a great team of parent volunteers working on this special event and we appreciate your help with these donations. We hope everyone has a great week ahead. Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders. Tomorrow is Spring Picture Day. Only students that have pre-paid will get their pictures taken tomorrow. Families who are walkers in the afternoon, please make sure that you are crossing WITH your children across the bus driveway at the top of the hill. We have many daycare vans, cars, and buses leaving on that driveway and we want all of our students to safely cross with an adult. Also, we received a message from River Dell Townes, which is the neighborhood right next door to RDE. They have given us a heads up that they will begin towing vehicles that park on the parking pads and grass to walk over to RDE in the afternoons. We wanted to give you a heads up so that you can make other arrangements rather than parking there for the remainder of the year. Thank you. Just another reminder of the importance of keeping your child in class until the end of the day, unless there is an emergency or a medical appointment. Our teachers are working diligently to get all of the standards and information taught in the short amount of time left, and we want our students to be successful. Staying for the full day will help them stay on top of their learning and make them feel confident and sure of themselves. Thank you for your help with this.
