Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders.
It has been a great first couple of days back. Students and teachers have been excited, engaged, and working hard. The buzz of learning can be heard all around the building.
A couple of reminders:
- The tardy bell rings at 8:55 daily. Students should be in their seats by that time.
- If your child arrives after the tardy bell rings and there are no RDE staff members outside, please walk your child inside to the office to sign them in. Students should not walk in alone.
- For those parents in the carpool line, please remember that you can use both lanes as you enter and drive around the long, curvy driveway, and you should take turns and safely "zipper merge" into the single line at the end of the curvy driveway. Thank you for following this protocol.
- We have some substitutes working in our carpool line in the afternoon this week and next. Please make sure you have your official RDE carpool tag, or a picture of the official tag, to show them in line. Thank you for following this measure to ensure safety for all Racer students.
- Tomorrow is Duty Free Lunch for our amazing RDE teachers. If you are able to volunteer to help out, even for 30 minutes, please use the link on our Facebook page to sign up. It is greatly appreciated!
We hope everyone enjoys the rest of your week, and remember...once a Racer, always a Racer. Have a great night.

We invite all JCPS families, staff, and community members to join us for an unforgettable night of high-flying basketball where some of JCPS’s most captivating athletes will compete against the Harlem Wizards! Come cheer as some of your favorite principals, teachers, coaches, and support staff step onto the court for some friendly competition, school spirit, and lots of laughs. This high-energy evening promises fun, laughter, and unforgettable entertainment for students, families, and staff, all while supporting a great cause.

🏀 Who are the Harlem Wizards?

The Harlem Wizards are a nationally renowned basketball entertainment team known for their incredible ball-handling skills, jaw-dropping trick shots, and interactive, family-friendly showmanship. Good evening Racer families, this is your principal, Ms. Durko, with some announcements and reminders.
Believe it or not, we only have a day and a half left before the holiday break. It is hard to believe we will be in 2026 very soon. Tomorrow is Reindeer Day and Friday is Polar Express Day.
Also, a reminder that Friday is an early dismissal day. Carpool will begin at 1:45, and all parents picking up students in carpool should arrive on campus by 2:10.
We hope everyone has a great night and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer.

Good evening Racer families, this is Ms. Durko with some reminders for the week ahead.
The temperatures have really cooled down, please make sure your children are wearing coats or jackets to school daily. Also, it is a great idea to put their name in the coat incase they might end up in our Lost and Found. Speaking of the lost and found...there are MANY coats, jackets, water bottles and lunch boxes in our lost and found. If you would like to stop by anytime this week or next, bring your ID, and our office staff can let you head down to find your child's missing items. Again, there are MANY items there, and we would love for them to find their owners before the holiday break.
The Holiday Shop has been going great, and we need more volunteers to help it run smoothly. If you are available to help out, sign up on the PTA Facebook page.
Tomorrow, Wednesday, December 10th is our Family Night at the RDE Holiday Shop. It is in the Media Center from 4:00-7:00. We would love for you to come out and give your students a chance to shop with the family. In addition to shopping Santa will be here for pictures, along with some yummy food vendors including: Little Reggie's Cookies. Squeeze the Day Lemonade, and Waffee Station. Shop for gifts, get some food, and see Santa all here at River Dell. A reminder for Family NIght: only CASH or VOUCHERS are accepted. If you want to use a credit card, you must purchase a voucher at: www.funhgs.com. You can also scan the QR Code on the PTA Facebook Page or on the flyer that came home.
We hope you have a wonderful evening and remember, once a Racer, always a Racer.

JCPS will operate on a two-hour delay on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

All students and staff should report to schools and campuses on a two-hour delay.

We have been advised that the potential of black ice is possible tonight through Tuesday morning, creating hazardous travel conditions. To allow for better road visibility for our bus drivers, students, and staff drivers, we will be on a two-hour delay tomorrow. We encourage all travelers, especially our student drivers, to travel with caution.

School nutrition will serve breakfast upon students’ arrival. Early morning care will open two hours later than the normal start time.

Thank you for your understanding as we work with local safety and emergency officials to ensure that we are all safe during these inclement weather events.

We are in URGENT need of volunteers for next week’s Holiday Shop. This event simply can’t happen without the support of our amazing families. If you’re able to spare even 30 minutes to an hour, it would make a huge difference. Thank you so much for considering lending a hand!
