Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. We are super excited to have the Apex team at school teaching the students leadership lessons like being proactive to get things done, finding healthy ways to resolve conflict and work it out, and pausing for a reality check to stay true to who they are. Ask your child what leadership lessons were their favorite last week! The Apex team is putting on the much anticipated Fun Run on Thursday, March 21 st to celebrate everything they learn and the money we raise! Students are aiming to get pledges from 10 sponsors to help raise money for the school, and they are earning thank you gifts for their pledges. On average students complete between minimum 26 and maximum 36 laps with 36 being the most they can get credit for. So if a pledge is made for $1 per lap the donation should be around 30 dollars. To donate, please check out your student’s “Apex VIP Badge” that was sent home last week. All instructions are inside. Just go to www.myapexevent.com and use your student’s special “access code” printed on their VIP Badge to log in and enter your pledges. If you cannot find your code, just email info@apexleadershipco.com. Also, we have 9 school days before Spring Break and the end of 3rd quarter. Our students are working so hard every single day. Congratulations to our February students who exhibited Self-Discipline for the Character trait of the month

Dylan Garrish is our next March Character Education Award recipient!🌟 Recognized for Responsibility, this Riverwood Elementary 5th grader always has his homework completed with attention to detail, and done to perfection. He will frequently do even more than is expected. For example, Garrish has taken it upon himself to reread each book to be better prepared for Battle of the Books. Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. We are excited that this week is Read Across America Week. In addition to parents and community members coming in to read to our students, we plan to have some dress up fun each day during Read Across America Week. Flyers went home last week. Also, Tuesday, March 5th is a Teacher Workday and there is no school. We are gearing up for our APEX Fun Run Fundraiser which will begin on Monday, March 11th. Our APEX Fun Run is scheduled for Thursday, March 21st. We are also excited to announce that Officer Stewart has joined our RES Family as our new Security Resource Officer. Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role. Good evening Riverwood Elementary families. This is your principal, Mrs. White. We want to remind all of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families that our next Food Lion Family Math Night will take place this Thursday, February 22nd from 5:30-7:30 pm. You are welcome to attend, even if you did not sign up ahead of time. This event will take place at the Food Lion store on Pritchard Road, across the street from our school and it is a floating event. Come out during that time to participate in the free, lively, real world math activities our students will be completing around the store. We will have prizes for each student after they complete their goal and Food Lion will be raffling (4) $25.00 store gift cards too. Come on out 3rd, 4th and 5th grade families and join us on Thursday, February 22nd as we partner with Food Lion to show our students how math can be fun and relevant when used in our day to day lives! Also, we have extended our online yearbook sales until next Wednesday, February 28th. We will only have a limited amount of additional yearbooks to sell after this date. You might have noticed a new addition to our campus over the past couple weeks. We would like to give a 🟢BIG RAMS🟢 welcome to Officer Stewart. Officer Stewart is our new SRO and we are thankful for her service to our staff, students, school and community. Join us in welcoming and thanking Officer Stewart!

We are so thankful and appreciative for all of our wonderful bus drivers. Please show our bus drivers love and appreciation if you see them this week. Also, as a reminder, balloons and flowers are not allowed on school buses per JCPS policy. We want to remind all our PreK, Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade families that our Food Lion Family Math Night will take place this Thursday, February 15th from 5:30-7:30 pm. You are welcome to attend, even if you did not sign up ahead of time. This event will take place at the Food Lion store on Pritchard Road, across the street from our school.
