Her calming presence provides immediate relief to parents, students, and staff when coming into the office. She takes time to learn the details about the students, families, school, and community.

Good evening Riverwood Elementary families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. Today was the end of the 3rd quarter and as a reminder tomorrow, March 11 and Wednesday, March 12 are Teacher Workdays. This Friday, March 14th is Spirit Day so we encourage students to wear RES apparel or green. The JCPS Spring Survey window will open next week, March 17-March 28. You will be receiving an email from your child's teacher regarding survey details. For students, only 3rd-5th grade students are eligible to take the survey and parents have to opt your student in to take it. A permission form came home today so please send that back on Thursday whether you opt for your child to take the survey or not. In the email from teachers, there will be directions on how you can complete the Parent Survey as well starting next Monday, March 17th. Also next Monday, March 17, is Spring Picture Day. Flyers have gone home with students with details. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.

We are so proud of our RES Chorus who had an amazing performance Saturday at the Showcase of the Stars. Thank you Mrs Miller for all you do to support our students.

🥳Let's celebrate Lauren Scales, our 2024-2025 School Counselor of the Year!🥳
A school counselor for 13 years, she is the counselor for Riverwood Elementary School. Her love of children is her driving force. When asked about being in the profession for 13 years and former students, Mrs. Scales’ humble response was, “The best part is that they (the students) still recognize me and they feel as though I genuinely care for them and their wellbeing many years later!”
As part of National School Counseling Week, JCPS Students Services hosted a celebration that included brunch, guest speakers, and lots of fellowship.
Congratulations to Lauren Scales and all of our JCPS School Counselors for their amazing work!!!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families! This is your principal Mrs. White. As a reminder, we have a scheduled Early Release day this Wednesday, January 29th and we will dismiss at 1:50 pm. Class pictures are scheduled for next Tuesday, February 4th. Envelopes to purchase should be coming home. We have rescheduled the 2nd quarter Principal Book Club Pizza party for tomorrow afternoon. We are looking forward to enjoying this time with those students who participated in the 2nd quarter Principal Book Club. Also, we have rescheduled the Winter Dance for Friday, February 28th. We are looking forward to this fun event for our students. Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful evening.

Due to the hazardous road conditions caused by the recent winter weather event, Johnston County Public Schools will be closed for all students tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2025, as well as all extracurricular activities. The district will operate under Condition 3 of the inclement weather plan.
For JCPS staff, this day will become an optional teacher workday. Schools and county offices will open at 10 AM.
As always, safety is our primary concern and after driving our roadways and receiving guidance from local safety officials and NCDOT, we have been advised that though the main roads within high-traffic areas may be clear, many secondary roads within the rural areas of the county are expected to still have hazardous conditions through Friday, making them unsafe for JCPS transportation use. In addition, many of our campuses have shaded walkways, parking lots, and areas that must continue to be assessed by our operational staff before students may safely return.
Extracurricular activities and community facility use will resume on Saturday morning, however, we still encourage site visitors to travel safely and be cautious while on campus, particularly in shaded areas.
Have a great weekend everyone and make the most of what is left of the snow!
