The district is proud to announce that 89% of the schools received a letter grade of A, B, or C, an increase of 24% from 2018!
Likewise, 85% of the schools in the district met or exceeded growth, a 56% increase from 2018!

We are hosting two Student Assignment Community Information sessions. The first session is tonight, September 30, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Wilson's Mills Elementary. The second information session will be held on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, from 6-8 PM at Swift Creek Middle School.
Please note that all attendees will need to enter through the front entrance and proceed through the weapons detection system.

Cooper Academy Families! This is Mr. Stoke, Principal of Cooper Academy with some reminders about upcoming events. First, I want to thank everyone who came out last night for our Open House! Our teachers did a tremendous job providing information to our families about learning objectives along with the beginning of year benchmark data for students.
There’s still time to participate in our Books are Fun Book Blast Event by completing your Treasure Map and getting in on the fun. Currently, we’ve had 46% of our families participate raising $19,146 towards books for our students! This is outstanding! There are numerous other classes about to also earn $100 worth of books for their classrooms if just a few more students participate by sending out the 10 or more contacts. Another shipment of prizes for students is expected to arrive with the books in October for those students who are waiting for their prizes.
Monday, September 30th is the final day for kindergarten or newly enrolled students to submit Immunization records and health assessment (for kindergarten only) before they can no longer attend school without them. Contact the school nurse Sara Buchanan at sarajanebuchanan@johnston.k12.nc.us if you have any questions or need assistance.
The JCPS Student Assignment proposals will be reviewed with community members on September 30th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Wilson’s Mills Elementary and October 1st from 6:00-8:00 pm at Swift Creek Middle School. The proposed school boundary adjustments do impact Cooper Academy with approximately 300 additional students slated to join our school attendance zone if the proposal is passed by the JCPS School Board on October 8th. Chorus Rehearsal is Tuesday, October 1st until 5:30 pm after school.
First Priority Club is meeting in the media center on Thursday, October 3rd until 5:00 pm after school.
Our annual Bike/Walk to School Day is scheduled for Wednesday, October 9th. Families wanting to participate with their children will meet in the parking lot of Clayton Chiropractic (201 E Main Street) between 7:45-8:00 am. The Clayton Police Department is providing a police escort for our families to the school.
Mark your calendars now for our PTA sponsored Fall Festival on Saturday, October 12th from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Our Fall Book Fair also kicks-off at this event for our families.

Cooper Academy Families! This is Mr. Stoke, Principal of Cooper Academy with some important information.
On Wednesday, September 25th the front carpool lane to our campus will be temporarily closed after our morning carpool from 9:00 am through 3:00 pm due to construction work that needs to be completed underneath the road.

Friday, September 27th is an early dismissal day for our school system. Students will dismiss at 1:55 pm.

Twenty-three of our schools earned their way into the top 20% of the state for growth. This accomplishment is just one example of students, teachers, and parents working together to propel our district up!

During the September 10, regular scheduled meeting the JC Board of Education received three (3) calendar options for each school year, and has requested that each of the calendar options be made available for your review and feedback.

Monday, September 23rd is our Fall Picture Day for students. Students do not have to wear uniform colors tomorrow for picture day. Parents can order pictures by sending in the completed order form with payment or by ordering online using the school code FM454201.

Great job Cooper Academy families! In just two days our school is at 38% participation for our Book Blast Event and has raised over $8,000 in books for our students! Congratulations to Ms. Jaramillo's class for leading the way with 61% participation which earned their class a $100 shopping spree for books in the classroom.
Please make sure to send out your 10 or more invitations so the students can earn their prizes and get free books and our homeroom teachers can receive free books for their classrooms. We had our first Treasure Box winner announced today and will continue to award 3 additional Treasure Boxes over the next few school days along with the grand prize drawing for the iPad next week.
Did you know that Cooper Academy students "Exceeded Growth" expectations in reading last school year on their End-of-Grade testing and have increased their reading test scores by 12.4% the past few years? It takes great teachers, terrific students/parents and community support to make this happen. We want to get more books in the hands of our students and you can help.
