Quick to offer peers and staff a smile, she continues to make an impact on former teachers with smiles, hugs, and words of encouragement. She even asks staff about their family! Murray is flourishing in her role as a member of the school's Safety Patrol, greeting younger students with warmth, even helping them tie their shoes! Way to go!✨ #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Evan Gray is our next February 2024 Character Education Award recipient! Gray demonstrates compassion towards his peers, teachers, and coaches inside the classroom, and out on the sport fields. A 7th grader at Benson Middle, he is a distinguished leader. He encourages his peers to do well, and offers help when needed. Keep up the good work!😎 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Katie Pilkington, a beloved, long-time member of the JCPS family, was recognized for her years of service with the Educational Excellence Award! For nearly 28 years, she was the voice of JCPS, the first voice people heard when calling the district. She was small in stature yet big in heart, and she served JCPS with faithfulness, integrity, and class. We are forever thankful for Katie Pilkington's dedication, and the positive impact she had on others!🌟

Congratulations to Erin Ennis, JCPS February 2024 Certified Employee of the Month! Ennis is a MTSS Coach at Benson Elementary who always has the best interest of the students at heart. In observance of President's Day, there will be no school on Monday, February 19th for JCPS students on the traditional calendar.

Today kicks off National Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Week (FCCLA), and we want to acknowledge JCPS who make a difference with FCCLA. FCCLA functions as an integral part of the Family and Consumer Sciences education curriculum. Members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and career preparation. IDEAL Academy at South Johnston High is currently accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year! There will also be an Open House on Tuesday March 26, 2024 from 6-7 PM. The IDEAL Academy at South Johnston High School is a 4-year opportunity for students to obtain skills and college credits in environmental sciences, agriculture and leadership. This unique opportunity is a collaboration between Johnston County Public Schools and the University of Mount Olive. We are elated to introduce the newly named Swift Creek Elementary School. Part of the voter-approved 2022 Bond Referendum, the newest school in the district has the capacity for nearly 950 pre-K through fifth grade students. It has vibrant open spaces with an energetic flair, while providing safe and secure learning spaces for students and staff.
