JCPS nurses, teachers, administrators, & SROs took part in 🩸"Stop The Bleed" training🩸. Led by the Johnston Community College EMS Department, 50 participants took the course and learned valuable techniques, such as how to apply a tourniquet and care for a wound. Everyone received a Stop The Bleed certificate of completion, and now has the skills and knowledge to assist when necessary.🩹

Let's get ready to battle... of the books, that is!📚📘📖 Students from all 12 middle schools competed in the 2025 Battle of the Books, and after several rounds of questions about the books that were required reading, Four Oaks Middle School came out the winner!!! 🏆 Swift Creek Middle School took home second place, and Archer Lodge Middle School rounded out the top three! The Four Oaks Middle team will compete in the region 3 competition this Saturday, March 22nd, at Panther Creek Middle School. Congratulations to the winners and great job to every team that competed! 👏👏👏 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Brian Atilano-Sandoval is our final Character Education Award recipient for March!!!🥳🥳 A fifth-grader at Selma Elementary, Atilano-Sandoval is recognized for COURAGE! He demonstrates responsibility, respect, and courage in academic and extracurricular settings, but what truly sets Atilano-Sandoval apart is his remarkable courage. He is not afraid to stand up for what is right, even when it is difficult. Whether advocating for a peer, expressing an opinion with integrity, or taking on challenges that push him outside of his comfort zone, Atilano-Sandoval leads by example and faces obstacles with determination and perseverance. His ability to take risks, be humble, and approach difficult situations is remarkable. Keep up the great work!!!👏👏 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Danna Soto is our next March Character Education Award recipient!!! 🥳🥳 Soto is an 8th-grader at Selma Middle School, and is recognized for INTEGRITY! She is honest, takes responsibility for her actions, and encourages her peers to do the same. Soto creates random acts of kindness around Selma Middle by posting sticky notes of encouragement in various parts of the school. Soto strives to do her best in all things and to lead by example. A member of the National Junior Honor Society Chapter, she recently joined the yearbook staff and has already made a difference in helping move the project forward.📘📸 Keep leading by example, Danna Soto!!!👏👏 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

📣Make some noise for Greyson Hey, a Character Education Award recipient for March!!!📣 As a 5th-grader at Riverwood Elementary School, Hey is recognized for DEPENDABILITY! He is also reliable and responsible, and keeping himself, his teachers, and fellow classmates on task and on schedule. Hey has adapted to many changes over the years and demonstrated an incredible ability to overcome and persevere challenges. Westin Dorner kicks off our Character Education Award recipients for March!!!🥳🥳 Dorner is a 5th-grade student at Powhatan Elementary recognized for RESPECT. One of the most remarkable ways Westin displays respect is through his kindness and compassion toward others. He has gone out of his way to support a student from another classroom who joins Dorner's classes for enhancements and lunch, offering help and friendship, and showing patience. The symbol is used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159, or π. Today is an annual opportunity for math enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi, talk to their friends about math, and eat pie.🥧 #PiDay2025

📖 Four Oaks Elementary was full of characters today!!!📖 The students and staff ended the fun-filled Read Across America Week with the second annual Character Parade! With the assistance of local officials, families lined Main Street as everyone brought their favorite book characters to life! The school also unveiled its brand new book vending machine! Students can earn coins and use them to "buy" a book that sounds interesting to them. There were many guest speakers throughout the week, including John Zoccola from @readwithmalcolm. Zoccola read Malcolm Mitchell's book "The Magician's Hat" to Miss Hendrick's class. Four Oaks Elementary's 📚Book Character Day 📚 encourages reading and inspires students to become lifelong readers! #ReadAcrossAmericaWeek2025 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS
