    • RDE Hold's First STEM Night of the Year

      River Dell Elementary held it's first STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) night on Oct. 19 for students and their families whose last name started with the letters A - L. "River Dell Elementary's "Family STEM Night" was a huge success," STEM teacher Cindy Raynor said. "River Dell Elementary partnered with North Carolina State Engineering Place who did an incredible job providing wonderful learning activities for their students. Over 300 students with last names A-L came with their parent(s) to enjoy activities such as building a catapult, packaging a s'more, testing a diaper's absorbency, designing a roller coaster, and engineering a straw rocket."

    • Buster the Bus Visits RDE

      Buster the Bus visited River Dell Elementary on Nov. 9 where he taught the Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and first graders about bus safety. Buster the Bus is a robotic bus that moves, speaks, listen and even dances. RDE's bus coordinator Marge McGill accompanied Buster and talked about how students can be safe as they load and unload the bus and how to act appropriately while riding the bus.

    • Ms. Dailey Receives Employee of the Month Award

      Congratulations to River Dell Elementary (RDE) office support Sharon Dailey for receiving the Johnston County Public Schools/Wells Fargo Foundation Certified Employee of the Month for November 2017. Dailey was surprised on Monday, Nov. 13, when members from the Johnston County Board of Education surprised her with balloons in the front office. Dailey will appear at the board meeting on Nov. 14 and receive recognition for her superior work.

    • Fall Festival Huge Success at RDE

      Thank you to all who made the River Dell Elementary (RDE) fall festival a success. “The RDE Parent Teacher Association (PTA) would like to thank all of our wonderful families, friends and school staff for attending the RDE Fall Festival,” PTA President Cindy Cole said. “The event was such a success, we were overjoyed by the turnout.” The students were able to participate in handmade carnival style games, dunking volunteers sitting in the dunk tank, getting their faces painted, going on hay rides and picking out pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and getting pony rides.

    • RDE Partners with Duke Energy

      We are partnering with Duke Energy and have a goal to save 10 million kilowatt-hours of energy during the 2017-18 school year. To reach this goal, our RDE families can request a FREE Energy Kit to save energy in their homes. Every request for the FREE Energy Kit helps our school win cash rewards ranging from $250-$2,500, and gives each family a chance to win $1,000. There is information in your box for you and flyers for your students. Please place a flyer in each child's folder tomorrow. Families can easily log on to myenergykit.org to order a FREE kit.

    • Read-A-Thon

      Our school will be having a fall fundraiser from October 16th through October 23rd. Students will be receiving information in their Tuesday folder on October 10th. Over this two week time, students will be asked to complete 10 reading sessions and request pledges from friends and family. There will be student prizes just for activating the student page and additional opportunities to earn class rewards.

    • Carpool Reminders for Parents

      Here are some reminders about afternoon carpool: Kindergarten-2nd grade car riders should be picked up in the line close to the building Kindergarten-2nd grade parents please make sure you stay in the carpool line that is on the right as you enter the parking lot 3rd-5th graders will be picked up at the flagpole
