    • RDE Fifth Grader Awarded Grant

      Congratulations to River Dell Elementary Fifth Grader Harrison Bennett who was awarded the Johnston County Public Schools Student Innovator Grant. Harrison’s idea is to help students see the bus drivers hand signals better. With the grant, bus drivers will get black gloves to wear with reflective tape so the students can see the bus driver better as they are loading and unloading the bus.

    • Dudash awarded Superstar Teacher of the Month for CCC

      Congratulations to River Dell Elementary kindergarten teacher Robin Dudash who was awarded the Superstar Teacher Award for the month of October for the Clayton Chamber of Commerce. ​Dudash was teaching her students on Friday, Oct. 26, when she was surprised by members of the Clayton Chamber of Commerce, which included; Terri Sessoms, Teresa Balck, Amanda Blakely, Dana Wooten and Martha Stovall, and RDE ​Principal Chad Jewett who brought balloons and a certificate recognizing Dudash for the awesome job she does.

    • RDE Announces Student of the Month for October

      The character trait for the student of the month for Johnston County Public Schools is perseverance. A student in each classroom was chosen as the student of the month for showing perseverance in the classroom.

    • Number Drummer Visits RDE

      On Friday, Oct. 19, Number Drummer, an interactive performance where the audience uses instruments to learn math skills, visited River Dell Elementary (RDE). “Number Drummer came to River Dell full of energy and instruments,” RDE music teacher Rachel Holmes said. Every student received an instrument as they walked into the gym for the show. Depending on what age group was in the assembly the representatives from Number Drummer worked on different math skills using instruments.

    • Parent Night: Standards Based Teaching & Learning

      We had a parent information night on Standards Based Teaching and Learning planned for September 20th. Due to the hurricane and its impact on our schedules, we have had to postpone that meeting. We now have the rescheduled date. We will have our parent night on Standards Based Teaching and Learning on Tuesday, October 16th from 6pm to 7pm in our cafeteria. We will also have our PTA share some very important information at the beginning of that meeting as well.

    • School Lunch & Breakfast Information

      Johnston County Public Schools has been notified that our district is included in the Presidential Declaration of Disaster, which will provide FREE school breakfast and lunch to ALL students starting Monday, October 1 and continuing through October 31 as a result of damages sustained by Hurricane Florence. This does not include staff, who may continue to buy meals at any time. Questions about students’ personal accounts should continue to be fielded through the school cafeteria manager or principal.

    • Parent Advisory Council Vacancies

      RDE has 4 vacancies on our Parent Advisory Council. Parent Advisory Members serve a 3-year term and meet quarterly with the principal discussing school policy, procedures, school improvement goals, and other items related to creating a positive relationship between the school and the community and families we serve. The deadline to submit resumes and cover letters to be considered for Parent Advisory Council is Friday, October 26th. Anyone interested in applying will need to send a resume and a cover letter explaining why they desire to serve on the Parent Advisory Committee to Chad Jewett via email (chadjewett@johnston.k12.nc.us).
