Instructional & Library Media Center Materials
The Johnston County Board of Education is committed to ensuring its students are provided instructional materials conducive to well-rounded, age-appropriate, educational instruction, in its classrooms and in the media centers. This includes textbooks, instructional aids and equipment, audiovisual materials, supplementary books and resources, and library books and resources. A list of library media center materials shall be established for each school level and shall be surveyed and updated on an annual basis.
As defined in N.C.G.S. § 115C-85, a textbook is defined as “systematically organized material comprehensive enough to cover the primary objectives outline in the standard course of study for a grade or course.” Supplementary materials include supplementary textbooks, periodicals, audio visual materials, and other supplementary materials used for instructional purposes.
