Recent studies indicate that cell phone use, particularly for social media and interaction, can interfere with students' ability to focus on learning and negatively impact students in many ways. Excessive use of cell phones and social media has been linked to lower academic performance, increased behavioral issues, and other conditions that hinder students' ability to excel.
In recent legislation, House Bill 959, Session Law 2025-38, revisions were made addressing clear guidelines for the use of cell phones to include educational purposes. The Johnston County Board of Education has adopted Policy Code: 4318 Use of Wireless Communication Devices.
Families are strongly encouraged to review the policy in its entirety.

📢It has been reported that JCPS students have received more than 66.2 million in scholarship offerings for the 2024-2025 school year! This is an amazing 18 million more than scholarship offerings received during the 2023-2024 year!📢
A great deal of the offerings have been accepted and will cover tuition costs as these students continue their educational journeys!

Bus 731 students will combine with bus 749 this afternoon on bus 749.
Bus 768 will run as a double run on bus 652. Bus 652 will do their load and come back to get bus 768 riders. They will be holding at school until picked up.
4:40 pm-Due to the severe weather at dismissal time today, all buses were held and will be arriving to their destinations later than usual today. All buses have now left campus.
We are under a severe thunderstorm warning at this time with lighting in the vicinity. We are holding carpool and buses until it is safe.
Good Evening - This is a reminder that our EOG testing begins tomorrow in reading for students in third, fourth and fifth grade. Please ensure your child gets a good night's rest and attends tomorrow on time. Students have worked hard, and they are prepared to do their best. The EOG test in Math is Monday. Thank You!

Marshall, a teacher and alumnus of West Johnston Wildcats, was one of four finalists, which included Heather Bryant of Clayton High School, Lois D'Agostino of West View Elementary, and Brooke Hayward of Riverwood Elementary School.
