Good Afternoon Dolphins, JCPS will host the 2024 Summer Information Fair on July 29th. We invite families to attend the information fair in their student’s feeder pattern. The Information Fair will provide parents an opportunity to request, verify, and ensure your student has bus transportation and receive meal service information prior to the opening of school. While students won’t receive their bus number at the Information Fair, attending and signing up for transportation guarantees that the student will have transportation on the first day of school. Bus information is expected to be shared at Orientation. If your student does not ride a bus, back-to-school information will be provided at Orientation. We’ll also have staff on hand for families who need assistance with enrolling their student(s) for the upcoming school year. The Summer Information Fair will be held from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, July 29th at Smithfield-Selma High. Award ceremonies

It was an all out celebration for South Smithfield Elementary School this morning for National Bike/Walk/Roll To School Day! 🦽🛹🚲 For the eighth year, students, parents, siblings, community members and stakeholders, and even pets, participated in the event. With the assistance of local law enforcement and emergency services, everyone made their way along the nearly 1/2 mile route from Civitan Park in Smithfield to the school. They were welcomed back to campus by the South Smithfield Elementary School dancers. Fun was had by all!

JCPS is looking for Reading Buddy volunteers to help our students this summer! We need parents, grandparents, community members, and high school students to join our Summer Reading Camp participants during morning arrival. Volunteers will listen to and encourage students as they develop their reading skills. No experience is required, but you will need to register and be a volunteer with JCPS before you begin. Alika Pa'u received an April 2024 Character Education Award for Compassion! A second grader at South Smithfield Elementary, he is the kind of student that shares his thoughts and opinions when asked to do so, but is always quick to listen to others. Knowing that everyone is treated fairly and has a chance to speak up is something that is very important to him. Shy at first, his personality shines through with his friends. Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role.
