We are excited to highlight Riverwood Elementary School's Mrs. Shannon Pawlak, who was recognized as the 2024-2025 JCPS Assistant Principal of the Year! 🥳🥳
A 27-year educator, Pawlak was a teacher for 20 of those years. For the past three years as the assistant principal, the teachers and students have made great strides in the student’s academic success.
For the 2023-2024 school year, Riverwood Elementary exceeded growth and was in the top 10% in North Carolina for academic growth. Mrs. Pawlak has a servant's heart, and is an invaluable asset to the administrative team and the school.

Riverwood Elementary held its annual Kindergarten Macy's Thanksgiving Parade. Each kindergarten class showed off their theme as they marched along the parade route. The entire school came out to watch along with families and students from Riverwood Middle.
There was laughter and joy, and even Santa was there!🌟

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. We are excited for the Kindergarten Macy's Day Thanksgiving Parade tomorrow morning. The parade will begin promptly at 9:30 am. Parents are welcome to come to the parade to cheer our Kindergarteners and community members on. 1st-5th graders will be cheering our Kindergarteners on as well during the parade. Please make sure your child wears a coat to school tomorrow as all students will be outside for the duration of the parade. We are hopeful that the rain will hold off in the morning but we will transition the parade inside if it is raining outside. Also, as a reminder our Thanksgiving break is from Wednesday, November 27th through Sunday, December 1st. We hope all of our students and families are safe this week and weekend. Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful evening.

We are excited that our November PTA Spirit Night is tomorrow evening, Wednesday, at the McDonald's in Flowers Crossroads from 5-8 pm. We look forward to seeing you tomorrow night! Also, 2nd quarter progress reports will go home with students this Thursday. As a reminder, we have a Teacher Workday tomorrow, Tuesday, November 5th so there will be no school for students tomorrow. Fall picture make ups and re-takes are scheduled for this Thursday, November 7th. JCPS is seeking parent feedback regarding the elementary Standards Based Grading and Reporting. Please go to www.johnston.k12.nc.us and fill out the Standards Based Grading feedback form by Friday, November 8th. Your feedback is critical in the decision making moving forward as a district regarding grading and reporting. Next Monday, November 11th is Veteran's Day Holiday so school will be closed for students and staff. Saturday, November 16th is our PTA Fall Festival. We are looking forward to that event and information should be coming home soon with students. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.
