🌟We are so excited to announce Natalie Mitchell as Riverwood's 2024 Leading with the ❤️ Heart recipient. Natalie loves taking care of our school, staff & students and we love all she does for us.
🎉🎉Congratulations Ms Natalie!

Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝
The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role.
We honor the 53 amazing members of the JCPS family for their work that clearly does not go unnoticed! Thank you!✨
Stay tuned for an event recap video...

We are beyond proud of Lilly Grace Oglesby for representing Riverwood Elementary at the district Spelling Bee and was the First place Winner!!! Pictured here with her super proud teacher Mrs. Medlin. Great job!!!

Due to 2 Hr delay tomorrow, Early Care drop off will begin at 8:25 am. Arrival for all other students will begin at 10:25am

Under the guidance of local emergency officials and out of an abundance of caution, JCPS will operate on a 2-hour delay on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
Everyone is encouraged to drive with caution when traveling.

Good afternoon Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White. The North Carolina General Assembly has authorized school districts to use a limited number of remote instruction days in the event of inclement weather. As you may already know, our area has the potential for severe weather tomorrow. In order to be prepared in the event that JCPS determines that tomorrow will be a remote learning day, you should find a Remote Learning Packet in your child's folder when they come home from school today. The work sent home with students today will not require the use of the internet and will not be new learning. Everything included is based on instruction that has already been covered in class with students. If the district deems tomorrow a Remote Learning Day, this is the work that your child should complete at home. However, if we have school tomorrow, please do not worry about the packet and send it back to school tomorrow in your child's folder. We appreciate you so much and the safety of our students is always our first priority. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.

Christmas Break is just a couple of days away!🎄🎁
For students following the traditional school calendar, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 is an early release day. Then students will be out of school from Thursday, December 21, 2023 - Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 2, 2024.

We are so proud of Mrs Blevins who was named Superstar Teacher of the Year last night

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal, Mrs. White. We are excited to offer the Holiday Shop next week for our students. Each teacher signed up for a day and time for their class to shop. As a reminder, students can shop with cash or check made out to RES PTA at the shop, but we cannot process credit cards at the school. If you would like to pay by credit card, please follow the instructions on the sale flyer that went home with students last week and send the voucher with the authorization code with your child to shop. Also, as a reminder for carpool, it is very important that all cars have the car tag each day. When cars do not have a car tag, it makes the carpool process last much longer and more difficult for our staff. Thank you for your help with this. Also, please refrain from dropping students off before the 8:25 am bell. We want all students to be safe at all times and doing this poses a safety issue as students are not supervised until the 8:25 am bell. We also ask that parents do not use the back entrance during carpool times unless you are parking and coming into the building. Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.

Superintendent Dr. Bracy, Area Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Schools Patty Whittington, and Chief Academic Officer Anna Kuykendal were escorted by Principal Leigh White to visit a few classes at Riverwood Elementary this morning to engage with students and teachers. They were able to assist students with their work, brainstorm staff, and discuss educational goals and strategies with school leadership.
The visits are an ongoing effort by the district to focus on being actively involved in the classrooms and providing the support needed to help JCPS students achieve their best!

Good evening Riverwood Elementary Families. This is your principal Mrs. White with a few updates. Tomorrow is Spirit Day. Please have students wear RES Spirit Wear or a green shirt tomorrow so that their class can win the sought after Spirit Ram for December.
The Holiday Shop will be held from December 11th - 15th this year. Information went home yesterday and we are in need of volunteers to make this a successful experience for our students. Please review the Holiday Shop Volunteer Sign-Up Genius to find a spot to volunteer. The signup is available on the PTA's linktree website or you can email respta2018@gmail.com for access. Our students are so excited to be able to shop for family members each year and we cannot run it successfully without enough parent volunteers.
Also, we will begin our 12 Days of Winter celebration next Tuesday, December 5th leading up to Christmas break. Your child will be bringing the flyer home. We are looking forward to enjoying some dress up days in the next couple of weeks to celebrate winter arriving.
Thank you for your continued support and have a great evening.

The annual Riverwood Elementary School Macy’s Parade is always a fun way for students, staff, and community members to kick off the holiday season. This year’s theme was “Bee Kind”, an area of focus for the school.
Kindergarten students, Queen Bee White (Principal Leigh White), The Grinch, and, Santa and Mrs. Claus, were just a few of the special people at the parade. The Clayton fire and police departments, along with Clayton High cheerleaders and dancers brought their energy to the event.
There was dancing, waving, smiling, and singing as everyone celebrated the festive holiday season that has officially arrived!
Happy Thanksgiving!🦃🥧🥧
