Good evening Meadow Families. We hope everyone has had a great weekend. Last week was another great week at Meadow School. We have a few announcements for this week. As a reminder, our PTO and Meadow Market have the gas pump fundraiser. Proceeds from your gas purchase will go to the Meadow PTO and help support our school. Tuesday evening at 6:00pm we will host our Hispanic Family night. Staff will be available to help our hispanic families with any school related concerns and to provide important information. Our athletic schedule is as follows: on Monday our Volleyball and Soccer teams play at Four Oaks, on Wednesday they play at home against Selma, and our Football team plays at Selma Thursday. Please come out and support our athletes. Friday Sept 22 is a Teacher Workday. School will be closed to students. Last, for our morning K-3 carpool families, we have started putting traffic cones in front of the school. Please unload your student between the cones. This is for the safety of our students and staff. We hope everyone has a great evening and we look forward to seeing you tomorrow.

Good evening Meadow families. I hope everyone had a great weekend. We are looking forward to another great week at Meadow School. We have a few announcements for this week. As we begin another week, we need students to walk themselves to class. We have plenty of staff members in carpool, at the doors, and in the hall to help students find their way to class. I also need to ask that students are picked up through the carpool process. The only students released to an adult is if the student is being picked up prior to 3:00. We understand carpool is long. We have close to 90 more students this year totaling 668. We begin calling students at 3:25 and typically are finished by 3:45. It is a quick process when we all work together. Our athletic events for the week are Volleyball and Soccer home Monday against Neuse Charter and at Smithfield MS Thursday. Our Football team plays at home Wednesday against North Johnston. Just a reminder that our PTO and Meadow Market has the Gas Pump fundraiser going on. Please stop at Meadow Market to fill up. You will support a local business and a portion of the proceed will go back to our PTO. We hope you all have a great evening.

At Tuesday's State Board of Education meeting, test results from 2022/2023 were approved and released. Meadow School is one of 4 JCPS schools to finish in the top 5% of the State. Our growth index was 6.01, slightly down from 21/22 (6.89). We are THE ONLY school in JCPS to be in the top 5% for two consecutive years!! We have increased our school grade from a 65-C to a 68-C. Our goal this year is to reach the 70-B level. All of this could not be accomplished without the support of our families and community, and the outstanding work and dedication from our school staff. It is proven that MEadow success begins with ME!

Second, our athletic teams get started with competition this week. All teams will have a parent/athlete meeting Tuesday evening at 6:30 in the gym with coaches. Volleyball and Boys Soccer play at home against Princeton on Wednesday and our football team plays at Four Oaks Thursday. Third, the PTO/Meadow Market Gas Pump fundraiser has started. Please stop by Meadow Market and get your gas. This helps a community business and partial funds will come back to the PTO to help our school.

JCPS Inclement Weather
We had a wonderful first day back to school and want to thank all of our students, staff, and families for working together to make today a success. We want to share a few reminders to keep things running smoothly in the days and weeks ahead. In the first few weeks of school, it’s typical for our bus routes and carpool lanes to run a bit slower than normal. Our drivers are getting used to new routes, there are more drivers on the road, our students are getting into a routine, and most importantly - we are focused on keeping everyone safe at all times. We ask that you keep these things in mind if our arrival and departure procedures are moving more slowly than we anticipate. If your student is a bus rider, we encourage you to download the EduLog Parent Portal App, for real time information on where your student's bus is on their route. We also want to remind our families that the majority of our schools are offering free breakfast and lunch this school year. All schools, with the exception of Clayton High, Cleveland Elementary, Cleveland High, Corinth Holders High, and Powhatan Elementary, will offer free breakfast and lunch through the Community Eligibility Provision. Families with students attending non-qualifying schools are encouraged to complete a Free and Reduced meal application to receive benefits for this school year. This form, which can be found on the district website, assists our schools in many other services throughout the year, and can be beneficial for our families and students. Lastly, please be reminded that all of our school campuses now have a weapons detection system in place at the entrances of our school. All students, staff, and guests will be expected to pass through the system upon arrival to our campuses. This first week of school is a busy time, with a lot of excitement for our students. Please be reminded that attendance will be taken daily. However attendance calls for students who are marked tardy or absent will not resume until next week. We thank you in advance for your help in making this a great school year.

Good evening Meadow families. This is Clint Eaves, Principal at Meadow School. I apologize for this lengthy message. First, welcome to the 23/24 school year! For those that were not able to attend Open House, please take time to review our Title 1 presentation on our website. Second, our community did an awesome job preparing students last year. Meadow School is projected to be a C school with a grade of 68. That is fantastic and an improvement from 21/22 school year. I am challenging everyone to give 10% more effort and help our school receive a B rating this year. As I stated at Open House-every student matters! And remember MEadow success begins with ME. Third, all entrances will have weapons detection systems in place during morning arrival. Students should take out chromebooks, 3 ring binder notebooks, umbrellas, and glasses cases and slide them down the table prior to walking through the station. This will speed up the process Fourth, carpool for Prek-3rd grade is in the main entrance to the building. Carpool for 4th -8th grade is at the gym entrance. We ask that the older sibling report to the younger sibling area for carpool. To make everything run smoothly, we ask those at the gym to turn left on Hwy 50 and those at the main entrance turn right onto Hwy 50. This will help with the traffic flow, especially in the afternoon. Fifth, all students receive free breakfast and lunch. Students must pay for a second meal and/or extra items such as chips, cookies, ice cream. If a student eats breakfast, they should go to the cafeteria upon arrival to eat breakfast before going to their classroom. Last, just a reminder to our Prek and Kindergarten families. These students do not start school until September 5-7. Your child's teacher will let you know the official start date for your child. So, these students do not attend this week , Aug. 28-31. We are looking forward to great year. As we assess the beginning of the school year, we will make additional announcements as necessary. I hope you all have a great evening and we will see you soon!
