Maritza Rosado began her career as an educator inspired by other educators who demonstrated professionalism and excellence. Through this motivation, she has impacted the Selma community in profound ways.
Her influence has not only motivated students and staff to be their best over the years, but has also changed the landscape of education throughout Johnston County and the State of North Carolina. She is currently in the running for 2026 Burroughs Wellcome Fund North Carolina Teacher of the Year, an honor she is truly worthy of receiving.

Grade-level proficiency, which is defined as students earning a Level 3, 4 or 5 on End-of-Grade and End-of-Course assessments, increased an impressive 3.8 percentage points, rising from 57.2% in 2025 to 61.0% in 2026.
These results are an exciting reflection of the progress taking place across JCPS and demonstrate that our district is moving Forward with strong momentum toward higher levels of student achievement and academic growth.

Graduation rates continued to improve during the 2025-2026 school year, with JCPS reaching an outstanding 92.6%, compared to the state rate of 88.8%.
A graduation rate that exceeds the state average is a significant accomplishment, and it reinforces JCPS’s commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and graduate prepared for college, careers, and life beyond high school.
This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our entire school community to provide the high-quality education students need to reach graduation and prepare for their next chapter.
CTLA is celebrating **Constitution Spirit Week, September 14–18! Students are invited to join the fun each day by dressing according to a different theme celebrating individuality, leadership, history, and the spirit of “We the People.”
Monday – Stars, Stripes, & Spirit: Show your patriotic spirit with stars, stripes, patriotic socks, hats, sunglasses, or other red, white, and blue accessories.
Tuesday – Express Yourself: Dress to represent YOU! Show off your favorite team, hobby, music, school, or personal style.
Wednesday – Future Leaders Day: Dress like the career you hope to have someday.
Thursday – 1776 Throwback: Step back in time with your best historical or colonial-inspired outfit.
Friday – We the People: Finish the week by wearing red, white, and blue as we celebrate “We the People” and our country under the Constitution. Don't forget that today is school picture day! This is the day you will take your picture for the school yearbook so look your best!
We can’t wait to see CTLA students show their creativity and school spirit throughout the week! All outfits must follow the school dress code.
