Thank you to all those that were able to support our PTA at the Spirit night on Tuesday and to all those that made the meeting on Wednesday.
Next week is the last week of our first 9weeks. Please be sure your student has made up any missing assignments due to absences. Monday Oct. 19 is a teacher workday for teachers to store grades.

OCTOBER 29 — Halloween School Dance | 4–6 PM
Get ready for an afternoon of music, dancing, costumes, pizza, games, and FUN!
Tickets are $10 and include admission, 2 slices of pizza, chips, and water. We’ll also have concessions available for purchase.
And we could use your help to make the dance happen!

Our PTA will have Innovation Academy Spirit Night Oct 6 from 5pm-8pm at Chick-Fil-A This link has information and a code to use in the app. Also, there will be a general membership meeting from 6pm-7pm on Wednesday Oct. 7 at Innovation Academy.
OCTOBER 7 — PTA General Membership Meeting. Come hear what’s happening at Innovation Academy, learn more about what your PTA is working on, and find out how you can be involved! It has been a great start to the school year and everyone is working hard. Yesterday, Thursday, we had Community and our 8th graders took the Spirit Chain with their final moments win over the 6th grade. Earlier the 6th grade had won their game against the 7th grade.
Thank you to all of those that were able to come last night to the PTA Family night. It was great to meet those of you in attendance.
Monday, Sept. 28 progress reports are scheduled to go home with students.

Grade-level proficiency, which is defined as students earning a Level 3, 4 or 5 on End-of-Grade and End-of-Course assessments, increased an impressive 3.8 percentage points, rising from 57.2% in 2025 to 61.0% in 2026.
These results are an exciting reflection of the progress taking place across JCPS and demonstrate that our district is moving Forward with strong momentum toward higher levels of student achievement and academic growth.

My name is Clint Eaves and I will be serving as the Interim Principal for Innovation Academy. I am excited for the opportunity to work with a great group of staff and students.
Picture day is September 18th. Students received paper order forms in Advisory. You can also place online orders by going to the link here.
Our PTA is hosting a Family Fun Night!
Thursday, September 24th from 5:30-7:30.
This is a FREE event for families to enjoy games, music, food, and family fun!
Please be sure to register at this link so the PTA can plan for enough food, supplies, and activities for everyone.

Chromebooks were distributed this week. Please be sure your student has a completed Digital Citizenship Form on file so they can receive their chromebook.

Graduation rates continued to improve during the 2025-2026 school year, with JCPS reaching an outstanding 92.6%, compared to the state rate of 88.8%.
A graduation rate that exceeds the state average is a significant accomplishment, and it reinforces JCPS’s commitment to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed and graduate prepared for college, careers, and life beyond high school.
This achievement reflects the collective efforts of our entire school community to provide the high-quality education students need to reach graduation and prepare for their next chapter.
Having 91% of our schools earn an A, B, or C is a meaningful accomplishment that demonstrates the strength of academic performance across JCPS and reflects the hard work of students, educators, school leaders and families. This success is further supported by the fact that 73.5% of JCPS schools met or exceeded growth expectations, with four schools ranking among the top 20% of schools statewide for academic growth.
Together, these results demonstrate the continued progress taking place across our schools and reinforce JCPS’s commitment to providing students with the high-quality education they deserve.

The overall performance composite is a measure that reflects the percentage of students who demonstrate grade-level proficiency on state assessments across tested subjects and grade levels, providing a broad picture of academic performance across the district.
This ranking reflects the hard work of our students, educators, school leaders, families and community partners who are committed to improving student achievement and academic growth. While we celebrate this accomplishment, JCPS remains focused on moving Forward and continuing to raise expectations and outcomes for every student.

#JCPSDataPerformance | Johnston County Public Schools is proud to be ranked 29th out of 115 school districts in North Carolina based on its overall performance composite, placing JCPS among the top-performing districts in the state.
The district’s goal, as laid out in the Strategic Plan, is to be ranked in the top 20% in the district. The performance demonstrated by JCPS during the 2025-2026 continues a positive move in that direction.

Have a safe holiday!
During the July 14th regular scheduled meeting, the JC Board of Education approved revisions to Policy Code 4304: Code of Student Conduct.
There was special attention to Section F. 36, which provides governance for the "Possession, Display, Use, Sale or Distribution of Vapes".
Revisions define vapes and expresses that there will be a 10-day suspension for any student in violation of the code.
We strongly encourage parents to speak with your child(ren) regarding the details of the policy and the consequences moving forward.
Please know that the Johnston County Board of Education strives to mitigate health and safety concerns related to harmful substances such as tobacco products and/or vapes. The revised verbiage and the associated penalties have been set to achieve this goal.
