Good afternoon Parents,We are excited for Monday, the first day of school! It is going to be a great day! Please know that on the first few days of school it is normal for us to experience delays with our anticipated bus pick up and drop off times. Our car pool lines will also run slower than they will later in the school year. We appreciate your patience and want you to understand that we will place a priority on student safety and work towards improving our efficiency as we go. Here is some helpful carpool information: Four Oaks Elementary has two car riders areas. Preschool, EC homeroom students, and Kindergarten students will utilize the car rider area located at the front of the school. The siblings of Kindergarten students and EC students will also be assigned to the front car pool area. Students in grades 1st-5th will use the main or back car pool located on the backside of our campus. Front Car Rider AM: The Front Car Rider line starts at the stop sign located across the street from our main entrance. Use the Car Rider lane located on the right side of Main Street. Avoid blocking driveways and proceed with caution. Please do not come onto the campus until staff indicate for you to pull across main street onto campus. Kindergarten and EC Parents enter the right side of the front traffic circle. The kindergarten and EC unloading/loading area follows the fire lane directly in front of the school. Our opening bell rings at 8:25 and students can be admitted to the building at this time. Cars should not arrive on campus before 8:25 am unless otherwise informed. It should be noted that some EC students have an earlier drop off time. If this is the case, parents are notified and details are shared. Front Car Pool PM: Dismissal will begin at 3:55 pm. Please do not arrive on campus prior to 3:55. You MUST have a school issued Car Rider placard with 25-26 on it to have your child’s name called. You will be asked to park and complete paperwork and ID check if you do not have a card for safety procedures.Main/Back Car Rider: The Back Car Rider line starts at the Civitan Ball Park Complex located on Civitan Road. Enter campus using the second entrance to the gravel lot located on the back of our campus. Follow the cones that loop down and along the perimeter of the Civitan Ball Fields. Continue down the side of the football field and across the playground to the gate and wait for staff to begin car pool. The road into the back of the cafeteria must remain unblocked at all times. AM Procedures: Bell rings at 8:25 and students can be admitted to the building at this time. Cars should not arrive on campus before 8:10 am. If you arrive after 8:50, please use the front car rider location at the front of the school. Afternoon ProceduresDismissal will begin at 3:55 pm. Please do not arrive on campus prior to 3:45. The gate at the Civitan field will be opened after all recess has finished for the day. Then cars will proceed to the next gate and wait for staff to begin car pool. You MUST have a blue Car Rider placard with 25-26 on it to have your child’s name called. You will be asked to park and complete paperwork and an ID check if you do not have a card for safety purposes. If you arrive on campus after 4:10, please use the front car rider location at the front of the school. Your child will have relocated there.

Johnston County Public Schools is committed to providing quality education to its students and professional learning environments for its staff, free of distractions, and supporting high-quality teaching and learning, enhancing student well-being, and maintaining a safe and focused school environment.
Recent studies indicate that cell phone use, particularly for social media and interaction, can interfere with students' ability to focus on learning and negatively impact students in many ways. Excessive use of cell phones and social media has been linked to lower academic performance, increased behavioral issues, and other conditions that hinder students' ability to excel.
In recent legislation, House Bill 959, Session Law 2025-38, revisions were made addressing clear guidelines for the use of cell phones to include educational purposes. The Johnston County Board of Education has adopted Policy Code: 4318 Use of Wireless Communication Devices.
Families are strongly encouraged to review the policy in its entirety.

North Carolina is home to a large population of active duty, guard, reserve, and veteran armed services members, and the state’s public schools reflect that.
In 2019, the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction launched the Purple Star Award Designation initiative to recognize the state’s strong military presence and support for military families.
The Purple Star designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate military-friendly practices and a commitment to military students and families. JCPS had 17 schools receive the Purple Star Award Designation. They are as follows:
Benson Middle
Clayton High School
Cleveland High School
Corinth-Holders Elementary
Corinth-Holders High
Four Oaks Elementary
Meadow School
McGee's Crossroads Elementary
Polenta Elementary
Princeton Elementary
Princeton Middle/High
Smithfield-Selma High
South Johnston High School
South Smithfield Elementary
Swift Creek Middle School
West Johnston High School
Thanksgiving Elementary
We are proud of these designations and honored to recognize our military families in this way!

📖 Four Oaks Elementary was full of characters today!!!📖
The students and staff ended the fun-filled Read Across America Week with the second annual Character Parade! With the assistance of local officials, families lined Main Street as everyone brought their favorite book characters to life!
The school also unveiled its brand new book vending machine! Students can earn coins and use them to "buy" a book that sounds interesting to them.
There were many guest speakers throughout the week, including John Zoccola from @readwithmalcolm. Zoccola read Malcolm Mitchell's book "The Magician's Hat" to Miss Hendrick's class.
Four Oaks Elementary's 📚Book Character Day 📚 encourages reading and inspires students to become lifelong readers!
