During the July 14th regular scheduled meeting, the JC Board of Education approved revisions to Policy Code 4304: Code of Student Conduct.
There was special attention to Section F. 36, which provides governance for the "Possession, Display, Use, Sale or Distribution of Vapes".
Revisions define vapes and expresses that there will be a 10-day suspension for any student in violation of the code.
We strongly encourage parents to speak with your child(ren) regarding the details of the policy and the consequences moving forward.
Please know that the Johnston County Board of Education strives to mitigate health and safety concerns related to harmful substances such as tobacco products and/or vapes. The revised verbiage and the associated penalties have been set to achieve this goal.

Thank you everyone for helping to make our new school year opening a success! The students did a great job learning and reviewing school rules and expectations. They are ready for another successful school year here at Cleveland.
Our Kindergarten parents are welcome to walk their children to the classrooms for another week. Please remember that all students will begin walking to their classrooms independently starting on Tuesday, September 8th. Our staff members and Student Star Leaders are stationed throughout the school building to assist our Kindergarteners and the students who are new to Cleveland.

Today, we welcomed the second group of kindergarteners for staggered entry and we look forward to having all of our newest students together tomorrow!
We need your help! Cleveland Elementary School is seeking family volunteers to help us monitor our students during lunch periods in order to provide our classroom teachers with a duty-free lunch. Volunteers will be monitoring and assisting students, cleaning tables, and sweeping floors. We are looking for volunteers who are willing and able to commit to a certain day and time every week. There will be staff members in addition to volunteers in the cafeteria during lunch. Duty-free lunch will begin in mid-September. The CvES Silent Partner Program was created to be a source of funding for students whose financial situations do not permit them to afford certain necessities such as clothing, shoes, snacks, school supplies, and field trips. Funds will be allocated from a special account for individual student needs based on a referral from a staff member or request from a parent. If you would like to make a donation to this special fund, you may send cash or check made payable to Cleveland Elementary School. Please be sure to indicate the donation is for the Silent Partner Fund. You will receive a receipt for any monetary donations to use for tax purposes. If you would prefer to purchase items directly, an Amazon wish list can be accessed by scanning the QR code below. We will also gladly accept individually wrapped snack items.
