Alika Pa'u received an April 2024 Character Education Award for Compassion! A second grader at South Smithfield Elementary, he is the kind of student that shares his thoughts and opinions when asked to do so, but is always quick to listen to others. JCPS held a groundbreaking celebration for Swift Creek Elementary!🏫 It was a momentous occasion filled with excitement and high hopes for the children of Johnston County, and their futures. Community members, local stakeholders, and JCPS team members were on hand for the historical event. The school is slated to open in Fall of 2024 and will serve just over 900 students from Pre-K through fifth grade. It will also make an immediate impact on overcrowding due to the county's exponential growth. As part of the 2022 Bond Referendum, voters approved the new construction. JCPS is proud to partner with JC Board of Commissioners and other stakeholders in this latest endeavor. #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS
