They won the JCPS Elementary Battle of the Books, and will represent JCPS at the regional competition on April 13th at Corinth-Holders Elementary School. River Dell Elementary and Wilson's Mills Elementary took home second and third respectively.

Congratulations to Ashley Holloman, 2024 JCPS Career & Technical Education Teacher of the Year!
Holloman has been an agriculture education teacher & FFA Advisor at Corinth Holders High for nine years, and a JCPS team member for 10. With this award, she is now one of 24 finalists for NC CTE Teacher of the Year. The winner will be announced at a celebration event in the fall.

Brad Betterton, Athletic Director at Archer Lodge Middle was awarded with the Middle School Athletic Director of Excellence by the North Carolina Athletic Director Association!
Betterton was recognized at the North Carolina Athletic Directors State Conference for his significant contributions on the middle school level in the field of athletic administration in the state. The inaugural year for the Athletic Director of Excellence Award, Betterton was one of only six middle school athletic directors from around North Carolina to be recognized.

Clayton High was the first of four JCPS high schools to participate in the S.A.F.E. Mock Car Crash Program.
Ahead of prom, Spring Break, and the upcoming summer travel season, juniors and seniors watched the mock car crash on the school's football field. The educational visual program is a large collaborative effort between state and local organizations as a way to show young drivers how dangerous distracted driving can be to them and others.

JCPS and Campbell University signed documentation for the expansion of the TA (Teacher Assistant) to Teacher Program!
For several year, JCPS and Campbell University have partnered to provide the school district’s TAs a pathway for obtaining licensure to become teachers with JCPS. Currently, there are 20 participants in the program and the expansion will allow for 30 TAs to obtain licensure.
The TA to Teacher program provides tuition assistance to JCPS part-time or full-time teacher assistants to pursue a college degree that will result in teacher licensure. Through the program, JCPS will pay up to a total of $5,250 per academic year, up to three academic years, for tuition and other educational expenses (e.g. standard fees, textbooks). Tuition assistance is available to part-time and full-time TAs.

West Johnston High took first place, with Johnston County Early College Academy earning second place. West Johnston High advances and will represent JCPS at the regional competition on April 9th at 9 AM in Harnett County.
