Pine Level Elementary ended Red Ribbon Week with their 14th annual Red Ribbon Parade!
“Make a difference. Be a hero. Live drug free.” was the message displayed on the red ribbons worn by students as they marched.
Families, staff, JCPS Leadership, Johnston County Board of Education members, Pine Level Fire Department, and community members lined the streets as students, led by the Pine Level police, walked to promote a drug-free future!

Yesterday, Smithfield-Selma High School welcomed South Johnston High School for a Unified Basketball game! 🏀
The gymnasium stands were packed with students, cheerleaders, staff, and other supporters from both high schools, ready to cheer on their teams. ESPN commentator Debbie Antonelli was also in attendance to call the game!
The game highlighted the power of teamwork, school spirit, and bringing people together through sports.
Strong partnerships between Johnston County Public Schools and local government leaders are essential to advancing educational opportunities and helping our students succeed.
At the recent Legislative Breakfast, JCPS leadership, Board of Education members, and local officials gathered to discuss important issues affecting our schools, including principal pay, calendar flexibility, enrollment and pre-K funding, food service contracts, exceptional children and special education programming, and other district priorities.
These conversations strengthen collaboration between our school system and local leaders, helping shape decisions that impact JCPS students, staff, and families today and in the years ahead.

The Superintendent’s Student Leaders Fall Cohort met this morning for their first session!
During the meeting they discussed various topics such as chronic absenteeism, educator roles and their impact on the educational experience, school safety, artificial intelligence, technology use, and much more!
Their candid responses and input will have a positive impact on JCPS moving forward.
