September 2025 Character Education Students

Congratulations to our September Character Education Award recipients!

Character Education is a priority for Johnston County Public Schools. Through a variety of means, schools in the district promote character education through rewards, bulletin boards, presentations, and interactive lessons. Each month, the Johnston County Board of Education recognizes students who have demonstrated good character. Below are the students recognized for September 2025.

Logan Capps

5th Grade - Cleveland Elementary
Perseverance - Working hard and not giving up

Logan Capps is an extremely motivated student who is responsible, respectful, and resourceful. He has faced many obstacles, but always faces each one with determination and never gives up.

Logan works hard every day with a positive attitude, and is an outstanding role model to all of his classmates. His teachers are impressed by his amazing work ethic, and the way Logan recognizes his needs and takes the initiative to advocate for himself in order to be successful.

Isabella "Izzy" Sholar

12th Grade - Cleveland High
Responsibility - Being accountable for your own actions

Isabella "Izzy" Sholar Headshot

Izzy Sholar is a student who goes above and beyond to show responsibility, not only through her academics and leadership, but also in her personal character. Her responsibility extends beyond the classroom. She represented the Cleveland community as one of only two students chosen for the Wake Electric Youth Tour in Washington, D.C.

She is also a member of the Youth Leadership Assembly, as well as a dedicated student-athlete on the Cleveland High basketball and softball teams. Izzy is a true example of responsibility in action.

Emily Stephens

8th grade - Cleveland Middle
Compassion - Treating others as you would like to be treated

Emily Stephens is an exceptional student who consistently excels in all of her classes and serves as a model of strong character. She approaches her academic responsibilities with diligence and pride, setting a positive example for her peers.

What truly distinguishes Emily, however, is her remarkable compassion for others. She goes out of her way to offer a helping hand and encouragement to classmates. Her genuine care for others creates a sense of belonging and positivity at Cleveland Middle.

Victor Kaptik

5th grade - Polenta Elementary
Integrity - Being honest in all things

Victor Kaptik is admired for his commitment to doing what is right, even when faced with difficult choices. He consistently demonstrates honesty, fairness, and respect during interactions with others, earning the trust of his peers.

His actions reflect strong moral character and a genuine dedication to upholding values that inspire those around him. Viktor's steady presence reminds others of the importance of accountability and respect towards others, making him a role model in his school community.

Izaiah Priest

5th grade - Swift Creek Elementary
Perseverance - Working hard and not giving up

Izaiah Priest takes his time to do his best work by completing assignments neatly and carefully. He is always willing to help others and brightens everyone's day. Izaiah strives for excellence as he pays careful attention in class and advocates for himself to clarify his understanding.

He perseveres through his learning by staying focused and working hard to grow his brain. Izaiah can be found in his 5th-grade classroom answering questions with insightful comments.

Abdallah Raddad

7th grade - Swift Creek Middle
Perseverance - Working hard and not giving up

Abdallah Raddad Headshot

Abdallah Raddad exemplifies perseverance, kindness, and respect. When faced with challenges, he rises to the occasion. One notable example of his perseverance was when Abdallah fractured his leg in the 6th grade, but he didn’t let that deter his focus. He faced the challenge head-on and continued to work hard. Instead of becoming discouraged by this difficulty, Abdallah used this experience as an opportunity to grow. He continues to find the good in every situation.

Abdallah is respectful and kind to his teachers and peers. He is currently assisting a fellow student who is new to the country and speaks no English by translating. He has a warm personality and is willing to always lend a helping hand.

With Abdallah’s perseverance and kindness, the Swift Creek Middle community knows that this will lead to his continued success in all future pursuits. Abdallah exemplifies what it means to be truly determined and resilient.
