School Health Advisory Council

School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is an advisory group composed of individuals selected primarily from the health and education segments of the community. The group acts collectively in providing advice to the school system on aspects of the school health programs. The members of the council are appointed by the school system to advise the school system.

SHAC Goals and Implementation Progress

The goal of School Health Advisory Council is ever evolving to best meet the needs of our community and schools. As SHAC continues to support needs as they arise, we will also focus on family engagement and bully prevention through relationship building and holistic health. Throughout the COVID-19 Pandemic, we have an additional goal of keeping classrooms as mentally and physically safe as possible. We will continue to do this by equipping our schools and families with the most up to date information on staying mentally and physically well. We will also maintain a close working relationship between the Johnston County Public Health Department and Johnston County Public Schools.
