Incelement Weather

Inclement Weather Strategic Plan

It is our district's goal to make our school communities as prepared as possible for emergency situations, including inclement weather. Johnston County Public Schools (JCPS) is diligent in ensuring that student and staff safety remains at the forefront of all decisions. To ensure that all variables are considered, the JCPS Emergency Team works closely with local and state emergency and safety officials, local law enforcement agencies, and government officials to develop a course of action during inclement weather events. The guidance received is essential in creating a well-thought-out plan.

Communication During Inclement Weather Events

Impending and sudden inclement weather events sometimes pose threats to the safety and well-being of many people, and information dissemination is a vital component in ensuring everyone remains informed and that safety procedures are adhered to. During inclement weather events, announcements will be shared with families, staff, and the general public via ConnectEd, the district website, school websites, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and local radio and television stations.

Important Reminders

It is important to note that the absence of any announcement indicates that the schools will open as usual. We ask that parents of younger children should have a supervision plan for their children in case school is dismissed early.
