🎉 Congratulations to Mrs. Rebekah Johnson! 🎉
West Clayton Elementary is proud to announce that Mrs. Johnson is the recipient of the 24-25 Leading with the Heart award for our school! This prestigious honor, inspired by Coach K's leadership model, recognizes individuals who lead with empathy, empower others, and foster a positive culture.
Mrs. Johnson consistently demonstrates these qualities in everything she does, from empowering those around her to going above and beyond to serve others every day. Her dedication and heart make a difference in our school community every day.

Due to the hazardous road conditions caused by the recent winter weather event, Johnston County Public Schools will be closed for all students tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2025, as well as all extracurricular activities. The district will operate under Condition 3 of the inclement weather plan.
For JCPS staff, this day will become an optional teacher workday. Schools and county offices will open at 10 AM.
As always, safety is our primary concern and after driving our roadways and receiving guidance from local safety officials and NCDOT, we have been advised that though the main roads within high-traffic areas may be clear, many secondary roads within the rural areas of the county are expected to still have hazardous conditions through Friday, making them unsafe for JCPS transportation use. In addition, many of our campuses have shaded walkways, parking lots, and areas that must continue to be assessed by our operational staff before students may safely return.
Extracurricular activities and community facility use will resume on Saturday morning, however, we still encourage site visitors to travel safely and be cautious while on campus, particularly in shaded areas.
Have a great weekend everyone and make the most of what is left of the snow!

Due to the hazardous conditions caused by the recent winter weather, all JCPS schools and office buildings will be closed for students and staff on Thursday, January 23, 2025, as well as all after-school activities and events.
JCPS will operate under Condition One of the Inclement Weather Plan. Please view the details of the plan by visiting the JCPS website at www.johnston.k12.nc.us/weatherconditions.

Due to the early dismissal, we will not have after-school care today. Dismissal will begin at 2:55 p.m.
Stay safe and warm, Bulldogs!
Good morning families,
We just received notification that the 4th grade field trip to the symphony is being canceled and rescheduled. Student will remain on campus today. We are so sorry for this last minute change.
All afterschool activities and events after 5 PM are canceled for Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
This weather event is very unpredictable and could change significantly over the next 24-48 hours. We encourage everyone to stay tuned for additional schedule changes, should any arise.

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2nd Breakfast Buddies! Mrs. Willoughby shared important updates on our new attendance notification system, upcoming testing, and our next student-led conferences on February 13th from 5:00-6:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you there! Together We Can, Bulldogs! 💙🐾

🎉 What an amazing week at WCES! 🎤 We kicked things off with a Masked Singer contest during the morning announcements and wrapped it up with an exciting House Rally! 🏠
During the rally, our birthday helpers led us in the Pledge and our Dog House Rules before we celebrated our incredible December Students of the Month. Huge congratulations to these hardworking students for their dedication and awesome character! 🏅
We also recognized our Employee of the Month honorees: Mr. Vargas, our Classified Employee of the Month, who amazed us with his guitar skills during the rally 🎸, and Ms. Puttkamer, our Certified Employee of the Month, for her unwavering dedication to our school and the kindergarten team! 🌟
Just when we thought the rally was over... the Grinch made a surprise appearance and kidnapped Dr. B!! 😱 What a memorable way to end the week!
Have a wonderful break, Bulldogs!🎄

We hope everyone has a wonderful winter break!
