Let's hear it for Roseann Logan, the JCPS Classified Employee of the Month for March!
She is the bookkeeper at Selma Elementary and a proud wife and mother of three boys, ages 23, 20, and 16. When Logan isn't being awesome as a Selma Elementary Yellow Jacket, she enjoys sewing and doing various crafts, which let her be creative and relax.
Although originally from Michigan, Logan has called Johnston County home for the past 30 years and loves being part of the community and raising her family here.
How does being named Classified Employee of the Month make you feel?
I feel very honored and grateful to be named Classified Employee of the Month. It means a lot to know that the work I do is appreciated. I enjoy being part of the team of JCPS and Selma Elementary and supporting our school community.
What led you to choose your role at JCPS?
My three boys attended Selma Elementary and had such a wonderful experience, which inspired me to become part of the school community. I wanted to give back and support a place that meant so much to our family.
Being able to work at Selma Elementary and JCPS and help support the students, staff, and their families each day is very meaningful to me.
What have you learned or gained from working in this profession, and how would you like to grow in your role after receiving this recognition?
Working as the bookkeeper at Selma Elementary has taught me how much goes into running a school each day, from coordinating people to managing supplies and planning. I’ve gained a greater appreciation for all the teamwork and organization it takes to support students and staff.
After receiving this recognition, I hope to continue growing by learning even more about how I can support and help things run smoothly. I’m grateful to be part of a team that works so hard for our students.
How do you create an environment where students feel supported and able to succeed?
I try to create a supportive environment by being helpful, approachable, and willing to assist whenever someone needs it. I do my best to make sure things run smoothly so teachers and staff can focus on helping students succeed.
Why are student and staff relationships important to you, and how do you build them?
Student and staff relationships are important to me because it helps create a welcoming and supportive school environment. When someone needs assistance, I try to build those relationships by being friendly, helpful, and taking the time to listen.
Describe a memorable experience that had a lasting impact on you. What made it special, and what did you learn from it?
A memorable experience that had a lasting impact was organizing special appreciation days at school. Seeing the staff feel recognized and valued makes it truly special. I’ve learned that gestures of appreciation can have a big impact on our school community.
