Seniors applying to a community college or university in North Carolina, and want to qualify for in-state tuition, must complete the Residency Determination or RDS. Join us Monday, September 23rd 6-7:30 pm in the media center for our RDS night for help. Students bring your laptops and parents are encouraged to attend!
Recent data shows that JCPS performed extremely well during the 2023-2024 year, lowering the number of low performing schools to ONLY 1, making the district the largest district with the lowest percentage of low performing schools!

Based on the current weather forecast, Johnston County Public Schools will continue normal operations on Monday, September 16, 2024. However, all after-school and evening campus activities and events have been canceled due to the forecast.
We understand that this decision will inconvenience many after-school events, however, student and staff safety is our primary concern.
It is our district’s goal to make our school communities as prepared as possible for emergency situations, including inclement weather. This decision has been made out of an abundance of caution, per the guidance of local and state emergency service officials.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we navigate this storm event. We encourage everyone to follow the guidance of local weather officials, and have a safe evening!
Johnston County Public Schools is in the process of selecting a calendar for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. 📅
During the September 10, regular scheduled meeting the JC Board of Education received three (3) calendar options for each school year, and has requested that each of the calendar options be made available for your review and feedback.

Student drivers, please be sure you are pulling to the next available spot in the parking lot when parking in the mornings. This helps a lot with student dismissal in the afternoons.
Senior drivers are dismissed first and park on the left side of the parking lot when entering and underclass dismiss second and park on the right side of the parking lot.
Please report directly to your vehicle when the bell rings at 2:15 to insure that student dismissal runs smoothly. When entering the parking lot in the afternoon for dismissal, please enter ONLY at the driveway located at the yellow crosswalk. This is to ensure your safety when entering the student parking lot for dismissal. Please be reminded that no music should be heard outside of the vehicle at anytime while on campus and that the campus speed limit is 5mph and all student drivers are subject to a $10 fine if caught violating the parking lot rules. Student parking privileges are also subject to being revoked if there are constant violations. Parking on campus is a privilege, not a right.
Carpool students in the morning are to be dropped off in front of the building, no where else on campus, only the front. Carpool students in the afternoon must report directly to the auditorium lobby and await your vehicle there for pickup. NO students should be entering carpool vehicles from anywhere else on campus other than outside of the auditorium lobby as this is a safety concern for moving vehicles.

Over the last three days, 40 North Johnston High School teachers were trained on Reading for Understanding! 📚
It is an instructional methodology for improving academic reading comprehension and vocabulary acquisition. They learned approaches to improving students' ability to read critically and write about and discuss texts in various disciplines, building student's academic literacy.
