On Wednesday, March 11, 2026, the North Johnston High School Battle of the Books Competition Team took second place at the JCPS High School tournament. Juliette Kerr, Skyla Hart, Emily Holland, Colby Johnson, Tilese McClendon, Vanessa Owens, Savannah Page, Mckenna Swann, Kailyn Wiley, and Savannah Creech showed dedication, teamwork, and a love of reading. Their coach, Mrs. Nichols said, “I am so proud of this team, not only because of how well they did, but also because of the joy they showed while competing. Every moment with this team was full of laughter and fun. Our strategy of simply enjoying books worked.” They have already started reading for next year’s competition and are determined to take first in 2027.
