Our school had an incredible time celebrating Read Across America Week with a variety of engaging and meaningful activities designed to promote a love of reading. The week kicked off with special guest readers from JCPS and the North Carolina Department of Instruction, who shared stories and inspired our students to become lifelong readers. Throughout the week, students took part in a schoolwide Reading Pledge, adding their names to grade-level displays as a commitment to growing as readers.

Excitement filled the hallways as students searched for hidden mini books, which could be redeemed for free books, and participated in creative classroom literacy activities. In the media center, students celebrated reading in a sweet way by decorating cupcakes while discussing the joy that books bring to our lives.

Each day also featured themed dress-up opportunities, including Hats Off to Reading, Reading Rainbow Day, Book Character Day, Read My Shirt Day, and Pajama Day. The week concluded with a special Book Blast that added even more excitement to our celebration.

In addition to promoting literacy, our school community gave back by collecting cereal boxes for the Hinnant Outreach Center. We are grateful for the generous donations and for everyone who helped make this week such a success.

Most importantly, we hope the excitement of Read Across America Week continues all year long as our students grow, explore, and celebrate the gift of reading every day.
