With the first semester almost coming to an end, it is not too late to join the plethora of clubs CTLA has accumulated over the years! This article provides information about the clubs in our school. If any readers have questions, reach out to the club coordinator of the one you are interested in!
Creative Writing Club
On the last Friday of every month*, you can share your writing piece based on that month’s topic. This club is not limited to any ordinary sort of writing. Encouraging uniqueness and exploring writing abilities is a significant part of their work. The Creative Writing Club meets in room 2209 at 9:45 AM, where Mrs. Church serves as club coordinator.
Book Club
A new addition to the clubs at this school, the Book Club is perfect for you if you enjoy reading! It meets at 9:30 AM on the first and third Wednesday of every month* in room 2215. Mrs. Jones is the club coordinator and welcomes new members to explore the wonderful world of reading.
D&D Club
Dungeons & Dragons is an interactive fantasy roleplaying game where you explore magical worlds with your adventurous party. The club requires no previous experience and is looking for players and Dungeon Masters. They meet on Tuesdays from 5-8 PM in rooms 2036 and 2203. The D&D Club’s coordinators are Ms. Lennie and Mrs. Worley.
CTLA eSports and Gaming Club
In this club, you can enjoy playing multiplayer games and connecting with fellow members. The server uses the platform Discord to create grounds for easy communication and fun conversations.
CTLA News Club
The News Club is now recruiting reporters to share stories about our school and any events that may be happening. The news broadcasts are posted weekly. The News Club meets any day at 3:15 in Dr. Wyckoff’s classroom (2213). If you are interested in broadcast media, this club is right up your alley.
Yearbook Staff
Ever wonder how those great photos end up in our yearbooks? The Yearbook Staff is committed to taking, editing, and managing all of the pictures used in the yearbook. Mrs. Westergard is the club coordinator. You can email her at awestergard@johnston.k12.nc.us for more details about the club!
Debate Team
CTLA’s first-ever Debate Team is now available to join! Due to its recency, the club coordinator, Mrs. Ijames, is still deciding on meeting times. She and Yazmin Mendoza are available to anyone who may have questions about the Debate Team. If you are interested in the club, feel free to fill out the interest form here: Interest Form.
Journalism Club
The article you are reading now is thanks to the Journalism Club! If you are interested in interviewing, writing, reporting, or anything else related to journalism, this club would benefit from you greatly. Mrs. Hales is the club coordinator; you can reach out to her through email at kristihales@johnston.k12.nc.us.
