Clayton Middle School

Students at Clayton Middle were dressed to impress for the school's career fair! Twenty business and educational institutions were on hand to provide information and answer questions to the 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The goal of the career fair was to give them the opportunity to explore possible career pathways, many of which are offered through JCPS Career and Technical Education. 🎓 #GreatThingsAreHappeningInJCPS

Last night, JCPS celebrated the 2024 Leading with the Heart recipients!💝 The event, inspired by Mike Krzyzewski’s book, “Leading with the Heart,” recognizes those staff members throughout the school system that demonstrate leadership, compassion, and heart on a daily basis. One person from every school as well as central services was nominated by their peers, because of their unwavering commitment and dedication to their role. Christmas Break is just a couple of days away!🎄🎁 For students following the traditional school calendar, Wednesday, December 20, 2023 is an early release day. Then students will be out of school from Thursday, December 21, 2023 - Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Students return to school on Wednesday, January 2, 2024.

JCPS will host a Choice Programs Information Night on Tuesday, December 12, at Smithfield-Selma High, 6 PM to 8 PM. Attendees will be provided 15 minute information sessions about the various programs offered to 8th graders and a Q&A session. Students are able to apply for the programs now! The application window for students wanting to attend High School Choice Programs will end on February 21, 2024.

A big round of applause for Ally Grace Smith, our next November Character Education Award recipient! She is recognized for the character trait of Integrity - Being honest in all things. As an eighth grader at Clayton Middle, Smith can be trusted to do the right thing every time. She is respected by her friends and teachers because she always tell the truth, and encourages those around her to do the same. Involved in various clubs and sports, Smith believes in being a well rounded student. She is an exceptional student who embodies the meaning of integrity. Make some noise for Lucia Comastri, a teacher at Clayton Middle! Comastri was named JCPS November Certified Employee of the Month. Ms. Comastri goes above and beyond to provide services to the Multilingual Learners (ML). She has hit the ground running by welcoming all incoming ML students, and making them feel comfortable amidst a new school year with new peers, teachers, and classrooms.
