The senior class of Clayton High School’s AVID program amassed over $23 million dollars in scholarship offers for their postsecondary educational endeavors in the upcoming year! Students in the AVID program have been working hard all year to research, locate, and ultimately apply for scholarships specific to schools across the state and country, as well as scholarship opportunities with various organizations and programs. These students have worked all four years at CHS to earn competitive academic grades, create meaningful extracurricular experiences, as well as give back to their community through service learning projects.
This accomplished group was recognized and celebrated in a ceremony with their families, teachers, and other supportive school staff on Friday, May 9th.
Students from the CHS AVID program will be attending an array of community colleges, four-year universities, and military programs in the fall. They are future medical professionals, teachers, psychologists, engineers, business professionals, and leaders in our community. We are so proud of each of these students, and look forward to seeing the amazing success they have at the next level!
Clayton High School has 52 seniors who successfully completed the AVID program this year. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a college preparatory program whose mission is to close the opportunity gap by preparing all students for college and career readiness and success in a global society.
